I love dogs! The 1yo cattle dog mix I was fostering got adopted in May, so I have a dog-shaped hole in my heart. In addition to fostering, I've also volunteered at Berkeley Animal Care Services, where I have been trained to walk "red dot" dogs - the dogs that are the most difficult to manage. I grew up with a big Labradoodle and walked and petsat my neighbors' Australian Shepherds, German Shepherds, Labradors, and beagle mixes any chance I got! I'm more than happy to follow specific instructions for how you'd like your dog to be taken care of, just let me know. I'm eager to learn about dog behavior and training- I've read Patricia McConnell's "the Other End of the Leash", "for the Love of Dog", Karen Pryor's "Don't Shoot the Dog" and others. If you have any recommendations for good books, blogs, videos, and websites, please let me know!

Martha took excellent care of our buddy. She was responsive, took care of his needs (arthritic), took him on plenty of walks and outdoor breaks, and frequently updated his stay. Buddy had a great time with her!
Martha did an amazing job watching my girl Luna. She would provide detailed daily updates of how everything was going and included pictures as well. She also took Luna out hiking and to dog parks almost daily, which is greatly appreciated especially for a high energy dog. Martha is knowledge of basic dog training and was also able to provide feedback/suggestions of how to help any difficult tendencies with my dog. Her responses were always quick and thorough. Would recommend Martha to anyone!
Martha was fantastic house-sitting our dog and cat. Very regular updates, lots of quality walks and play time for the pup. Recommend her without hesitation, and will absolutely hire her again.

A typical day
Depending on the length of the walk, we'll walk around quiet areas in your neighborhood. If I get to spend a lot of time with your pup, I'd like to take him or her out into the Berkeley hills on a hike! I'm an avid cyclist and would be more than happy to take your dog out for a bike ride.
