I'm currently the mom of 4 greyhounds. I grew up with a variety of breeds of dogs from poodles at the age of 5 to a black lab from middle school to college and then on to greyhounds as an adult living on my own. I don't know what life is without a dog as part of my family. I've had 2 special needs dogs I was their person and both passed in their teens one 17 and the other 13. Angel my lab was born without tear ducts so needed eye washing often and special drops for her eyes. I trained her to do several tricks from sit, stay, lay, spin, roll over, to hugs she passed from a stroke at age 17. My greyhound Stanley lost a front leg to a car accident. He lived to age 13. Being a tripod for 6yrs he required extra help in his senior years getting up and down a flight of stairs or getting up off a bed on non carpeted floors. He passed at age 13 do to irregular hear rate. So as you can see I've dealt with health issues in dogs from eyes, to limb loss, happy tail, cuts scrapes, bruises, bites and lots of in between. I can walk just about any kind of dog from itty bity yorkie to a giant Newfoundland as I'm a tall well stature person. I've carried a 75lb greyhound up and down a flight of stairs for 6months because he was older and a tripod and the stairs were slick hardwood so I can handle most dogs. I was a vet receptionist for a few months. I didn't leave because of the dogs but because of my co-workers and how they treated some of the animals in our care.
