It’s all about the DOGS!
Pet care experience
Dogs love coming to Brad and Marlys where Brad always has a stash of cookies in his pocket. We love our dogs, currently we have multiple labradors to keep us company. We have bred labradors for over 14 years and boarded dogs off and on during that time. While we have labradors we love all dogs of every size and shape. Now that Brad is home full time we are ready to do more boarding. Marlys has experience for giving medications for those dogs requiring extra care. If your dog has special needs such as anxiety, we would like to discuss further to be sure your dog is comfortable during their stay with us. They will have time inside and out and have lots of built in friends to play and bond with.
Reviews
Until today I was pleased with services that I received from these sitters. They took my dogs multiple times and treated her well during her stay. However, I had a stay booked for today with my dog while I was to be at work. About a month ago my dog developed a wart on her toe. My vet said that it could be potentially infectious until it falls off, but that it is safe after that. I am a registered nurse and this is also something I know to be true about warts. The wart fell off 5 days ago, and it was not until after the work fell off that I booked a sitter. I mentioned in passing this AM that she had recently recovered from that mild skin issue and reassured them that she is not infectious, but out of an abundance of caution asked them to just have mouse in her own area today. This is partially because she was chewing on her toes and I do not want her to experience a new infection from other dogs, but also just because I am somewhat overly cautious. Upon finding out, Marlys cancelled on me with no notice, leaving me unable to go to work. I was also unable to get some important work done on my car as a result. She also chewed me out for not mentioning that she was previously sick, despite the fact she hasn't been infectious for a week, and even if she was, plantar warts aren't a big deal. They fall off on their own, all dogs are exposed when they are young, and like chickenpox, after being exposed they are immune. It isn't dangerous. I ended up having to call my vet and schedule an emergency appointment to pay to update an optional vaccine to get her into a boarding facility on short notice. I am missing most of the day of work, and that is going to cost me a couple hundred dollars. The vet visit cost me $100. While I was there, the vet confirmed that since the wart fell off, there is no more risk of exposure to a dog interacting with my dog than there would be to that dog at a dog park. She also thought it was a friendly but overly cautious precaution for me to offer for my dog to spend the day in isolation at daycare, and that if they were really concerned they could have just have me leave my dog in a kennel during her stay, which was the plan for the day anyway. These sitters are generally, and they generally do a good job. However they would not listen to me or to the vet and canceled with no notice for no reason. They also chewed me out about it, as if the extra concern that I showed in taking extra precautions to protect their dogs and their business from a minor inconvenience was a reckless act. I expect people that I contract to be reliable. If there was a concern, I could have had Marlys speak to my vet over the phone. Instead she chewed me out. I have fired these sitters. They will treat your dog well, but if you are looking for reliability and a cancellation policy based on advice from medical professionals, perhaps look elsewhere.
Marlys scheduled a meeting with us prior to booking a stay so we could do a meet and greet. Marlys and Bradley are flexible with my nurse schedule and long days at work. Porter comes home calm and relaxed and nice and tired from playing with their resident dog pack.
Faith loved it at their home it was her first overnight stay away from her mommy and I was afraid she wouldn't want to come home she was so happy.
Our sofie enjoyed her stay with marly and Bradley! She always looks forward to going to their house. Also, I loved receiving photos of sofie during her stay. They are such amazing people to work with. Thank you both!
