The "cool aunt" for your canine
Pet care experience
I have a smaller rescue dog (18 lbs). I also like cats: I'm happy to house sit or visit yours at your home. I do not board cats because more people are allergic to them and so it would cause more conflict with my Airbnb house guests. I am best available overnight or weekends; during the week, I work a flexible schedule, but I do work. If your dogs stay with me, or vice versa, I would be more the type to take them out and about on car rides and to explore places. I allow my dog on the furniture, but if you are training yours to not do so, I will reinforce your protocols and not undermine them with activity in my house. I have no fixed idea of what needs to occur; I am more doing this as a pleasure than a job. Even if your dog is staying with me, I will not be at home every minute of the day. I have a crate which is comfortable for dogs probably up to 40 lbs. When at home, the dog would have free range of the house. I live near a big park and have another property a couple of blocks away which has a large yard. I'm the type of owner who feeds my dog Acana paleo food, but I am not going to take your dog running....walking, but not running. FINE PRINT: Please note that due to Rover's category limitations, you should check with me about pricing. Boarding is an overnight for up to 12 hours. Daycare is day/evening for up to 12 hours. If you are looking to have someone keep your buddy both during the day and overnight, that is both daycare and boarding, which Rover does not calculate properly. I typically offer a package deal on that which is cheaper than just adding the two, and this is even more applicable if you have 2 dogs. Please check with me to confirm the duration and final pricing. Also, I have indicated potty breaks at 4-8 hours rather than 2-4, but the probability is that 4 hrs would be certain increments. As we know, smaller dogs have to go more often.
Reviews
Marlene took good care of Miley, and kept us updated throughout.
Marlene was wonderful! She took great care of my two dogs. She sent frequent updates and pictures during their stay. They had lots of fun on long walks and trips to the dog park. My energetic pups were worn out when we picked them up! I highly recommend Marlene!
Marlene was awesome. She was flexible with pick-up and drop-off times, as was excellent at handling Piper's adjustment to the new environment. If we ever find ourselves back in DTW we will be reaching out for sure!
Marlene was very thoughtful and communicative! Probably the best sitter I’ve used with Rover. The dogs were well taken care of. I would definitely use her again when I’m in Detroit!

Information Marlene C. would like to know about your pet
I now have a dog, so your pet must get along normally with others. I only accept fixed dogs. Excessive barking will be an issue in my duplex.
A typical day
We walk 3 times a day, plus we sometimes go to the dog park or a neighborhood spot for leash free rough housing. I work a lot outside, so weather permitting, dogs may be with me outside for most of the day. Otherwise, some time may be spent alone inside. Car rides are likely.
