Animals are literally my life.

Pet care experience

I have been working as a professional in the animal industry (humane society, veterinary) since 2013. I have been employed as a veterinary assistant at a local veterinary clinic for the last 3 years, and I am also finishing my last semester of a 2-year veterinary technician program at a local college to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. I own two senior dogs and a geriatric diabetic cat, who have all traveled from Alaska to Nevada to Michigan with me. Given my medical knowledge and experience working in vet clinics, I am competent and able to medicate any form of medication and with any behavior of the animal (ENSURING your cat WILL get his pill!), as well as the ability to recognize signs of illness in your animal while you are gone. I am very responsible and trustworthy, and I will provide care and companionship to your pet as if they were my own.

Marla has taken care of my pets many times and I have never been disappointed with the level of care they received! She has worked at both a vet clinic and an animal shelter before so she is very knowledgeable when it comes to the well-being and health of animals. My pets always received their daily medications, she only fed them what they were allowed to eat and she always made sure they had outside time and play time. I couldn't recommend a better dog sitter!

Marla is an animal lover! She is caring and nurturing, she knows a lot about the health and behavior of dogs and cats. She is very knowledgeable in first aid of animals. She is reliable and conscientious in her work ethics. She ran the shelter office and everyone enjoyed working for her. Marla turned negative into positive and handled any conflicts quickly. She is a sweetheart and the animals know it. I would trust Marla with any and all of my animals.

I have known Marla pretty much all of her life. Since her early years she has always had a passion for animals. She had a cat when she was around 10 years old that she cared for until she left home for college. After college where she earned a B.S. in Fish and Wildlife from Michigan State University she completed several internships in her major in Alaska. In spite of her experience in Alaskan wildlife, her real passion was (and still is) caring for domestic animals. She took a position with the Kodiak Animal Shelter where she cared for all sorts of animals and it is here where she began fostering and then adopting her first dog (Charlie). While at the shelter she assisted in surgical procedures with a local veterinarian, and fostered numerous cats and dogs (and 1 squirrel). After 5 years in Alaska, Marla left and migrated back downstate to Nevada. She took a position with a local vet in Pahrump, NV where she again assisted the veterinarian and this lead to Marla's appointment as Director of the Pahrump Animal Shelter where she performed all of the duties and tasks necessary to care for the animals in the overcrowded shelter on a daily basis. Marla has extensive experience working with animals a has shown compassion and understanding about how to handle all sorts of animal. You won't find a better, more qualified person to trust your pet with than Marla.

I worked with Marla while she was the shelter manager of Desert Haven Animal Society in Pahrump Nevada. Marla is an amazing individual, she will take such great care of your fur babies you'll never hire anyone else. As a pet lover and shelter volunteer believe me when i say, you won't find a better pet sitter anywhere! Wishing she were here so I could hire her. I miss her everyday!

Information Marla G. would like to know about your pet

I have no breed preferences. I am comfortable with all behavior types. I have a love for bully breeds.

A typical day

I love to go on walks with dogs, typically around the neighborhood or to outdoor places that allow dogs. If your dog is dog-friendly I am happy to take them to a dog park. For those that love to fetch or play tug-of-war, we can play for hours. Or if your dog is a couch potato, I am just as happy socializing with them that way.
