ER & Trauma Vet Tech Here For You!

Pet care experience

I’m Marissa and I absolutely love animals!! I’m currently a full-time student pursuing my master’s degree in Social work, but have dedicated my life to animal health. I also have exotics and large animal care experience. My son, Joshua, is also a full time college student and Art major. Having epilepsy (seizure free for over 2 yrs) Joshua and I team sit. Working with Josh allows us to better accommodate our client’s needs. It also allows us to cover client’s unexpected travel delays. We have been team sitting since 2019 together. We are able to take care of our clients and also provide extra availability should care be needed last minute. We are also able to split up to accommodate in those cases. We’re a mom/son duo! My love for our furry friends started at an early age and I was always that kid who was finding injured birds, motherless kittens or puppies, and animals of every size to nurse back to health at home. My father, a native Hawaiian, worked most of his life in the Hawaii Parks Department, and he instilled in me a love of animals and nature I carry with me to this day. With over 31 years of experience with animals of every kind, I look forward to providing my skills and overwhelming love to the pets of north Houston Because I’m a Vet Technician, I can provide a special level of care for your pets, especially ones that require a little more attention. Administering medication, both orally and injected, is no problem for me. For diabetic pets, I can monitor blood sugar and give insulin. I have pet clients of every size, need, breed, and age so you can feel confident that your beloved fur kids will be in my loving and skilled hands. Currently, I’m the proud momma of several furry sidekicks who are all rescues. Canela Sky is an 40 pound Olde English Bulldog who is pure energy and joy! She is my old girl but still gets along well with both dogs and cats. Pneuma is my son’s 1 yr old Blue Heeler who is all energy and play. I also have three feline friends. Chai is a 7 year old Blue Tortoise Shell who was found abandoned and was bottle fed by me. Next is my son's 4 year old, Opal, who was found in a neighbor's garage and has been with us since. Lastly is 2 year old Freya. Oh, and I even nurse wildlife to health when I can. To say we’re animal lovers would be just a bit of an understatement and I’m always looking for new friends. When your pup is under my care, communication is the name of my game! I believe that it is absolutely necessary in order to provide excellent customer service. I always provide tons of updates with accompanying pictures so you can see just how much fun your pup and I are having together! My updates are replete with important information, like how your pups are behaving, what we’ve done for the day, and what our plans are for later. I love to head on long walks, so there’s a great chance that you’ll get some good photos of us enjoying the great outdoors! Likewise, I’ll always keep my avenues of communication open so you can get in touch with me at any time if any concerns or questions arise. Being a house sitter is one of my favorite parts of being a pet sitter because it allows pets to feel more at ease, have less separation anxiety, and feel comfortable sticking to their normal routine. You'll come home to the happy and healthy pets you had when you left! I can’t wait to meet you and your fur baby!

Brisket and our home are in the best company with Marissa! Having Marissa care for our dog gives us a tremendous sense of comfort when we travel. Many thanks to you and Josh.

Brisket was so chill when we returned home, I think he might not have missed us! 😉. All thanks to Marissa’s care of our active Aussie. Her care of our home while house sitting was also excellent. We are new to Rover/house sitting and overall this was a great first experience and the option that worked best for our situation.

Marissa has stayed with our dog multiple times over the past year and she has done a phenomenal job every time. She always takes the best care of our dog and our house when she stays. Tucker takes oral and injectable medications and I am never worried when she stays with him. I know he is in the best hands.

Marissa and Josh did a great job. Dogs seemed healthy and happy when we got home. Can’t ask for more than that!

Information Marissa G. would like to know about your pet

Before a stay, I’d be happy to set up a meet and greet so you can get to know us a little better. Things that are important for us to know about your pet prior to pet sitting would include their health issues, medical issues, dietary needs, naughty habits (fence jumpers, cat chasers, aggressive tendencies, toy/bed eaters), how they feel about other animals, and their favorite toys and treats! I don't have breed preferences, but I have a soft spot for Pitbulls, Bulldogs, and Mastiffs. Really, I just love furry faces.

A typical day

On a stay with me, we’ll be sure to take trips to the beach, hiking trails, or go on walks around their favorite haunts. We can also make sure to relax at home as much as your doggy needs. Pups handle separation anxiety from their people much better with lots of playtime and distraction, which I will be more than happy to provide them! I would only ever leave for quick, personal errands that a dog can’t accompany me on. No matter what your pup needs for a safe and happy stay, I’ll provide it!

I currently provide contract surgery relief work to surrounding vet hospitals on occasion and on my own schedule. I taylor that around my pet sits, so I can dedicate my time to your pets when we’re together. I will never be away from your pet for any excessive amounts of time unless it’s an emergency. Between Josh and I, we will always make sure your kiddos are provided for. Just another advantage of team sitting!
