Pet care experience
Hi there! My friends and family always come to me for dog advice as I have years of experience working with dogs with a variety of complexities. I can really relate to pet-owners who have dogs with anxiety. I trained my own adopted /rescued dog with severe separation anxiety how to sit, stay, lay down, shake, quiet, crawl, roll over, and wait (along with the crate-training and creating a consistent daily regimen). My dog has bad separation anxiety so he will need to come with me on any adventures while I am suspending absences and working with a professional trainer specializing in separation anxiety. He is very social and does well with kids and dogs—I expect to have him Canine Good Citizen after he can be alone for more than 10 minutes without panicking. He also seems to be indifferent or afraid of feline friends. He is a very chill and well-behaved boy! I love working with dogs and trying to help them if they have behavioral issues. I am very playful and love working with pets. I am well trained in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), and apply many of these principles when I work with dogs. I speak Spanish, and like working with a variety of people. With all dogs I work with, I work on sit, down, wait, heel, and other basic behaviors. The most important thing to me during their care, however, is that they can feel safe and secure with me. I strive to make sure both you and your pets are comfortable—I know how scary it can be to leave your fur babies with strangers!
Reviews
We were in a bind for a dog sitter while we were already away from home and Marie came to the rescue! She was incredibly communicative the whole time and sent a bunch of pics throughout. Our pup can be slow to warm up but she clearly LOVED Marie. We are so grateful!
In all my experiences with Rover, I have never worked with someone so easy! Marie is exceptionally detailed, friendly, professional, and communicative. She is a dream person to stay with your pets!
I'm always anxious about leaving my dog and cat but Marie really made it easy. She was communicative the whole time and sent pictures that really showcased how much fun my babies were having. I would definitely recommend Marie.
Marie was so great! She was professional, communicative and sent regular updates. Overall, she took great care of our dog and we will definitely work with her again soon :).

I take detailed notes, ask clarifying questions, and try to get to know the doggos before anything. I have created shared Google Docs in the past for clients so future and other dog sitters/caretakers will know from a caretaking perspective what may be helpful. It’s important to me that your fur babies feel safe and comfortable. Most clients I have rebook me off of Rover to secure more affordable rates and consistency. I would prefer to be over-communicative and get as much information as possible. Your pets’ safety, well-being, and comfort are a priority for me. I would care for your dog as I would my own, with extra care and attention (because strangers can be scary!). Just as any pet owner should be picky about who takes care of their loved fur babies, I also only sit for clients who care deeply for their pets. I require a meet and greet before booking new clients to ensure a good fit. Wherever I go, I have repeat clients for dogs I take care of regularly due to demand in my attentive services. I not only care about my relationship with your pets, but my communication and relationship with you!
Information Marie T. would like to know about your pet
I would need to know if the dog/pup has any particular needs, what they like, what kinds of treats are their favorite, what makes them nervous or sets them off, if they have any dietary restrictions. I would like to know their temperaments, fears, and quirks—the weirder the better! Anything and everything, really! All dogs are different, so I can't wait to get to know yours :)
A typical day
I have yet to explore San Diego, so walking anywhere would be great. If the dog is OK off-leash, I'd like to find an off-leash place to play fetch and run around, such as a dog park. I am also aware of the virus going around and would be mindful to keep them farther from other dogs. I would also be happy to work on behavioral training. I can never say no to lots of cuddling and chill times too!

I am a full time postdoc who just moved to San Diego’s fabulous North Park. I work from home T, F and am in the office 9-12/2-7 on M, 3-730pm W, 11-730 on Thursdays (can come back 1230-3 to let doggies out). Weekends and early mornings are best, but can be flexible if it is well in advanced (like holidays). I am also happy to negotiate pricing off of Rover. Most of my repeat clients are done off the app so I can provide more of a discount, especially when caring for multiple pets at once for longer periods of time since it can certainly add up!
