Pet care experience
I have loved dogs since I could walk (or run) to the nearest one! As a natural animal handler, I have dedicated my life and education to the improvement of animal welfare and handling techniques-- volunteering in shelters, learning various training techniques to tailor my skill set for any individual. My specialization is working with shelter/rescue dogs to develop socialization and greeting skills, and my experience working with a wide variety of breeds in a shelter setting has made me adept at reading body language and reacting accordingly. Your dog's safety and comfort is paramount. I treat any client's dog as my own, and learn all of their little quirks. What you can expect from me as a sitter: Personalized care and updates- drop ins are not just a drop and go situation. I love each and every animal I care for, so I will take my time, check the pet and environment, ensure that there is access to food/water and any waste will be picked up. And of course, you'll receive an update that your baby is taken care of! Experienced handling- I have worked everywhere from Avian research facilities, the Davis Veterinary teaching hospital as an emergency technician, and provided veterinary care in poor communities. I have a deep understanding of animal health that spans many species including reptiles, exotics, fowl and exotic birds, as well as the typical cats and dogs. Safe-handling techniques- There is nothing more terrifying than receiving a call from a sitter that your pet is hurt or has escaped. My curriculum is made so that that is never an issue. Before any care is given, I will want to do a "meet and greet" with you and your dog so that I can observe it in its comfortable state. This will allow me to gauge what methods will be more acceptable/comfortable for your pet when it comes to basic handling and what actions I can take to keep it safe. Quality exercise and strength development: As an athlete, I understand how important exercise is for the mind, both for humans and our pets. My own dog follows a strict dietary program and receives regular exercise. Moreover, I have worked with obese dogs before--including fostering a severely overweight senior dog. I modulated a diet and exercise program for her, groomed her regularly to heal a skin condition and she got adopted within a few months! I can work with your dog to develop fitness and strength. Services: House sitting Pet boarding (overnight or extended) Pet photography Walks/runs Weekend adventures (Your pup could join Jazzy and I on our weekend hikes!)
Reviews
Marie was fantastic! Our dog was immediately comfortable with her. Marie kept in touch with us with photos and updates, and was very responsible. Thank you!
Marie is awesome! My wife and i used to not leave for vacations due to the low quality pet sitters we found. Until we found Marie. She gives all of our creatures (including the exotics) lots of time and attention and even sends pictures to us while we are away. She goes the extra mile and even stays the night if we ask her to, and the animals love her. We no longer worry about the health and safety of our animals while we are away, thanks to Marie.
Loving , passionate person, Marie-Charlotte is absolutely a dedicated accomplished dog caregiver. She has trained many dogs and is very knowledgeable. I highly recommend her

Information Marie-Charlotte P. would like to know about your pet
No breed preferences- I have worked with everything from a teacup yorkie to a mastiff and a Great Pyrenees. What I would like to know: Any allergies, energy level, your goals for your pup if you have them (including fitness and training level), quirks to watch out for (reactivity to other dogs, men, small animals etc.)- I'll make most of these observations and test the dog thoroughly myself, but it never hurts to be prepared.
A typical day
I take my dog and any dog I'm watching on multiple walks a day. Depending on the animal's fitness level, I'll take the group to the lake for a hike or go for a run. Beryessa is nearby and a great way to improve a dog's agility and fitness!
