I have always loved animals and have had them my entire life. I have two dogs (one small and one medium) and one cat. The two dogs stay upstairs and I live in the basement with my cat (who can be secluded from dogs if they do not like cats). My basement is a good size and I have area rugs, and if the dog is comfortable (or allowed by the owners) I have a couch and allow animals on my bed. I have a basement door so that my dogs upstairs will be completely separated. My backyard is big and completely fenced in. I live on a dead-end street and have a great surrounding neighborhood to walk around. I love talking walks and being active so long walks are not a problem.
