So I'd like to hang out with yours! I have dog-sat and walked for a family I was babysitting for and I've fostered a couple of cats from the streets of Brooklyn. I've dog walked in the harsh winters and hot summers of Chicago alike, so I'm prepared for anything from keeping an eye on hydration to putting on snow socks. I don't have the most experience--I am a full time college student and a part time early education teacher. But I live with three cats and I love animals! One of the cats I live with, Ivy, has anxiety (to the point of peeing on people's beds when she is upset or stressed). I got to know her when I moved in, so when my roommate leaves town we hang out, play, and also stick to a specific schedule to avoid further stress. Ivy didn't pee on my roommate's bed (she always does when she leaves) the couple of times I've watched her, and I'm able to swiftly break up fights that sometimes crop up between her my roommate's other cat Briar because of Ivy's anxiety. It's all about knowing what triggers your pet, and for Ivy it's new people, loud noises, and fast movement, so I avoid all of those and when I first met her and I let her hang out in my room before introducing myself so she could feel more familiar. I can imagine introducing a pet with anxiety to a new walker is less than easy, and I want to make that process as smooth as possible. I'm on school break through January 27th and looking to walk, house sit or otherwise take care of your dog or cat! I live in Bedstuy but can walk pretty much anywhere in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens.
