I was blessed with my first dog when I was 9 years old. I can remember prior to that, walking home from grade school, and whenever there was a stray dog I would beg my parents to let me keep it. Finally, I was surprised with one of my own. Tears of joy came instantly. We had that dog until she was 14. Her name was Fru-Fru and she brought so much joy to our lives. My husband and I got our first dog in our first year of marriage. Her name was Uki. She was a beautiful Siberian Husky/Alaskan Malamute/German Shephard mix. We took her almost everywhere we went. She loved hiking and walks on the beach and was such a wonderful addition to our family, moving with us to multiple states and accompany me always on my runs. When we lost Uki, we were heartbroken, especially our two children. Soon after ,we adopted a beautiful Black Lab/German Shephard mix. We named her Meesha. She was everything we could ask for and blessed us with her love and good nature until she was 13. Folks who know me kid about how our dogs seemed to have been raised in such a way that they had the same personalities -- gentle and loving. I joke that I instilled my Italian spirit! During our times of dog ownership, I also watched the dogs of friends. We traded dogsitting and it was the perfect situation, as we all felt strongly that our dogs could be loved and cared for better in someone's home. A few years ago, while looking for full-time employment, I walked dogs for a local pet sitting company and loved the opportunity to bond with them and bring them joy. I also have volunteered for a very popular adoption event called Super Dog Adoption Day and worked for a local animal shelter in various capacities. Being around dogs and also cats and giving them the love and care they deserve brings me great joy. We have yet to get another dog, which is why I decided to offer my care to those who seek the same genuine, dedicated, loving care for their pets.
