Active & Caring Cornell Vet Student
Pet care experience
Hello, I'm Maria! I am a third year vet student at Cornell and graduate of the University of Notre Dame (go Irish!). Simply, caring for animals brings me joy. I care for my own dog, two cats, and four chickens, and I've been pet-sitting and dog-walking for 11 years. I have about 2000 veterinary experience hours in various settings, including Cornell's Companion and Large Animal Hospitals, a local equine ambulatory service, and an Army veterinary clinic. I also have spent hundreds of hours socializing dogs and cats in various animal shelters. I can be counted on to give your pets the care and attention they need, from administering medication to taking them on a walk and/or run. I have experience administering subcutaneous fluids, as well as experience caring for diabetic pets. In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano, watercolor, hiking, working out, baking vegan treats, and spending quality time with my family and pets! I generally have class on weekday mornings and afternoons. However, I am typically available for lunchtime drop-ins near Cornell, in addition to house-sitting overnight during the week and on weekends. At a client’s home, pet-sitting entails the usual walks, cuddles, and feeding, as well as medications, if necessary. At my home, I have a large fenced-in yard that is perfect for a dog!
Reviews
Maria was fantastic in taking care of our dog who became very attached to her. She was punctual, responsible and kept us informed with pictures and updates throughout our trip. Highly recommend!
Maria was wonderful! The animals obviously loved her, and she was great with them. It was especially a relief to have a vet student looking after the kitten not long after his neuter, but even just in general she was very sweet and loving with the animals and communicated with us really well. Definitely appreciated such good help on short notice!
Maria did a wonderful job caring for Casey and Quinn while we were in Ohio. She was in touch with us on a daily basis to let us know how the dogs were doing, and sent us photos of them on their daily walks. She stayed at the house several nights, and left the house immaculate. I felt very relaxed with the dogs in her care, and I wouldn't hesitate having her again. Bill Campbell
MarÃa was absolutely great with my Cocker Spaniel who is generally very wary of strangers. He loved her! She took wonderful care of him! I highly recommend Maria and will definitely book her again if I need a pet sitter!
