Third Year Veterinary Student

Pet care experience

Hi there! I am a veterinary student in my third year of education and I have ample knowledge on caring for animals. I have been using Rover for several years now, and prior to vet school I worked for four years in a 501(c)3 no-kill dog shelter in Miami, where I trained and socialized dogs who had either been owner surrenders or pups who were found by other good sams. I also co-founded an organization on my undergraduate campus called UPup, where we raised and trained CCI dogs into service dogs. I’m “fear-free” certified in animal handling and worked in both a small animal clinic and an emergency clinic for 4 years, and I grew up around horses so I love large animals too. Needless to say, I have a lot of experience working with under socialized animals and very socialized ones! My partner and I typically use Rover for I boarding only at this time in our home because he has a full time job and school requires me to be away from home for up to 4 hours at a time. We have one cat and a pup named Sunshine who we rescued in Alaska during our time up north, so we ask that your animals are socialized and friendly with other animals in order to make the most of their stay with us.

My dogs seemed to have had a great time during their stay with Marguerite! She kept me updated on how they were the entire time and sent me pictures. She was very pleasant to talk to and seemed to have a lot of knowledge on taking care of animals. Most of all, I could enjoy my time away knowing my dogs were in a safe place and were well looked after!

Marguerite was great, punctual and great communication. My dog liked her instantly and came back happy. Will definitely use her again and recommend her to others.

I have a fenced yard where your dog can play under supervision, I will never leave a dog unsupervised outside. Inside my home they will be free to roam throughout the house and on furniture unless you specify otherwise. Your furry friends *must* be cat friendly as I have one cat.

Information Marguerite B. would like to know about your pet

I always like to know the temperament and level of training of a dog before pet sitting them. I’m always happy to accommodate learning puppies or dogs with particular anxieties/tendencies but it’s always helpful for me to be prepared with some history on your pup so I can get a solid understanding and expectation. All animals are unique individuals just like people, and I’m a stranger to them so the more I can learn about from the owner prior to the stay, the better I can prepare myself and my home to make sure they have the most comfortable time.

A typical day

I usually take dogs around my neighborhood where there’s not a lot of traffic so it’s safe, and I’m also happy to take them on hikes around murphy or ester dome so they can stretch their legs.

I am currently in my third year of vet school and have classes in person in the mornings from 8-12 or 9-12, depending on the day. Once I come home from classes I typically take pups on walks or let them play in our fenced in yard. My partner Jeff and I share responsibilities of the animals we sit for so we always like to do a meet and greet to make sure you and your furry friends are comfortable with both of us. The animals we watch never go more than 4 hours without a potty break or a chance to play because of the flexibility between the two of our schedules.
