20 Year Army Vet/Police K9 Trainer
Pet care experience
I'm a 20 year Army Combat Veteran. I spent 17 and a half years working in the K9 field where I had vast experience starting as an Explosive Detection K9 Handler then moving on to being a Military Working Dog Team Trainer, Kennel Master, Handlers Course Instructor, and finally culminating as a (Train the) Trainers/Supervisors Course Instructor and Course Chief. I also received my Master Instructor Certification through the Community College of the Air Force during that time frame as well. I am known to have great communication skills when it comes to all animals, both problematic and easy going. Pets generally need a purely positive environment to thrive and that's what I ensure they get when they're in my care. I not only provide the bare minimum Rover services as stated, but will use my expertise and provide some light training at the owner's request to ensure a HIGH satisfaction rate. I'm doing Rover as a means to meet the general pet owning public as I build my clientele for my personal pet obedience training and property/owner protection training (for the right owners and dogs) business. I guarantee satisfaction!
Reviews
Marcus was really accommodating and did a great job making my dog and I feel welcome in his home. Would recommend to family and friends and use again in future.
Marcus was perfect for taking care of our sweet, but very anxious, pup! He was flexible and worth every penny! I will absolute use him again in the future.
Marcus was great!!!! Super with my dogs, and even more flexible with me. 100% recommend! My dogs will definitely be staying with Marcus again!!
Marcus took great care of our 3 dogs. His dog training background is priceless! One of our dogs is diabetic and Marcus was very attentive to his needs. We highly recommend Marcus.

I don't have any breed preferences for the pet side of things. Now for police work, that's a totally different story :) The main things that I'd like to know is if they are truly potty trained and if they are chewers as far as house manners are concerned. Other than that, I thrive on problematic or unacceptable behaviors that owners would like help with. I love to hear theses problems and will actually smile when hearing them because that's where I really get to show off my skill set and show the owners how we can correct these behaviors. I will always do what I can to assist the owners with these issues while they're furry family members are in my care! :)
A typical day
I always tailor my activities to what the dog needs. Being an expert in K9 behavior it's easy for me to "read" the dog's temperament, energy, and body language. I then use that information to customize the sessions to what the dog needs. Sometimes it's walks, sometimes it's competitive retrieval drills, and sometimes it's HIIT drills. As I used to tell my handlers throughout my career when they asked certain questions about training "it all depends on the dog." This holds true to from Police K9 training all the way to pets on Rover. :)
