Former Volunteer Foster Mom

Pet care experience

After my daughter left home, I decided I wanted some company and I adopted my first furry baby. She is a handicapped Maltese found inside of a cardboard in the trash. She saved me and gives me love every day. 3 months later I became a volunteer foster mom for the pet rescue center, because I thought I could save dogs from the streets, heal them, take them to the vet, offer them my home and find the right family to call them mom/dad. I have picked up babies from gas stations, Broward Human Society, hoarders situations, and owners who passed away. I fostered 6 dogs and everytime it's hard to see them leave after 2 or 3 months. Last March I promised my boyfriend to stop fostering for he is the one who cries the most. But I miss my visitors. This pet sitting opportunity would give me the best of both worlds, I can help families and I get to take care of them again.

Marcia, Watched my two high energy dogs at her house for 6 nights when I went away. I was finally able to enjoy my self and rest knowing that my two fur babies were in great hands. She will be watching them again for 7 nights when I go to Rome in 3 months. One night one of my dogs didn't want to eat. She gets like that sometimes so I said don't worry about her. Then Marcia, sends me a picture of her hand feeding her! She was spoiling them rotten when we were gone. She was constantly sending me video's of their movie nights, them in the yard playing with her dogs, them sleeping peacefully after a full, active day and she even slept with them because they are use to sleeping with us. My dogs love her and didn't want to come home! They got a vacation from us! LOL. I would highly recommend Marcia without hesitation for her to watch anyone's pets. She is truly a pet lover and will spoil your pet!

Safety, trust & environment

My dogs own our house and we just pay the mortgage. They roam freely in the house, but if crated is needed is ok. Our furniture is safe for dogs, including steps for couch and bed. We have training pads for potty trained dogs. Our front door has a gate and our back yard has a small fence so they can get fresh air and maybe some sun. During my foster years, I have learned to administer medicine (seizures, asthma, eye drops, and pills), give baths, and trim nails.

Information Marcia B. would like to know about your pet

Tell me a little bit about the baby's routine. I would like to keep them as comfortable as I can, so they won't miss home too much. I give my kids fresh strawberries and salmon treats, please let me know of any allergies or anything that will upset their tummies.

A typical day

We have tennis balls, toys, and fun tricks to keep them interested. If the babies are full of energy we take them for a walk.

Availability

I have 2 little fur babies, a senior Yorkie and a Maltese. 6am they go out potty. I leave for work from 8am and my boyfriend takes them out again. He leaves to work 9am. I come back at 12pm to feed them lunch and potty. And back to work. I come back home 3pm and I am in for the night. I work 8 minutes away and my job is very flexible. During the weekend, we stay home with the babies, playing with them, bathing them and everything in between. This has been our routine for the past 5 years. We are used care for furry babies since our foster parents times.
