Home full time, large fenced yard!

Pet care experience

My name is Marah! I am a local Roanoke native, I live with my awesome husband Jonah and we live in NW Roanoke close to Salem! I have three dogs and a cat that are super friendly and look forward to sharing their days with your babies! Time really does fly when you are having fun... and to say that we have fun with a house full of dogs would be an understatement! The start of 2022 means a few things for our family! #1 being that this year will mark our 8th YEAR of hosting dogs in our home! Can you believe it? I am as shocked as you are! Our schedule works out great to allow us to never have to leave our dogs alone for more than an hour or two tops! We look forward to meeting you and your babies and welcoming them into our home! I am not available for meet and greets and extended drop offs during the week day (Monday-Friday) so if this is the first time you have booked with me please plan on an early morning drop off (before 7 am) or later afternoon (after 4pm). I do work from home but have meetings, deadlines, and conference calls to attend to along with my animals and the ones I host. I do host several dogs at once so sending me a courtesy text that you are on the way is helpful so that I can have everyone secured and not trying to run out the front door. Also, please be respectful of my time. Yes I work from home but I cannot wait for hours at a time for you to show up whenever you want. If you book please let me know when I can expect you to drop off. If you are going to be later than 15 minutes from our arranged time please be courteous and send me a text letting me know that. THIS ALSO APPLIES TO WEEKENDS! When your dog is staying in our home please only bring their supply of food. We cannot keep up with blankets, toys, bowls, beds, etc. We have plenty of extra bowls and blankets here for the dogs to use. I also have extra slow feeder bowls so please let me know if those are needed. If I have watched your dog previously and something has changed please inform me of new medications, supplements, found allergies, etc. Also when dropping off I have probably informed you we are the first two story brick house on the right... my neighbors would greatly appreciate that you not park in their driveway or stop in the middle of the road. Please pull in front of our house only (we are not particular about the grass) so feel free to park there if necessary. It’s a dead end street but we like to be courteous of the other people driving up and down it. Lastly, I love Siberian Huskies. Many people question the reason I don't keep them the answer is simple. I own a cat a two small dogs. Siberian Huskies are natural predators and I have hosted mixed breeds in the past that have attacked my cat and my smaller more timid dog. Two of my three pups are rescues that suffered abuse. I will not allow them to be attacked in their own home. I am sorry if I offend you please know that I don't host animals just for profit. I host animals because I am a genuine animal lover my animals are the only babies I have and I will protect them. I work full time from home so I am here all the time! I normally wake up super early and we feed the dogs at 7am and 7pm I have a fenced yard, friendly dogs, and lots of things to keep your pups busy! I am happy to adhere to your dogs normal schedule and have crates set up for feeding time and sleeping if that’s what they are used to. 2022 new rules for boarding and daycare: I have always tried to be as flexible as possible for pick up and drop off hours as well as be considerate of my neighbors (many of who would also appreciate) people not slamming car doors and having dogs bark at all hours. I have always made it well known that I do work from home and cannot have random pick-ups and drop-offs during the day because of my work schedule. Going forward pick-ups and drop-offs will take place during the following times: Drop offs: Monday- Thursday 6:45am to 7:30 am / 4:00pm –6:00 pm Friday 6:45 am to 7:30 am / 4:00 – 8:00 pm Saturday – Sunday 8:00 am to 10:00 am / 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Pick Up’s: Monday- Thursday 6:45am to 7:30 am / 4:00pm –6:00 pm Friday 6:45 am to 7:30 am / 4:00 – 8:00 pm Saturday – Sunday 8:00 am to 10:00 am / 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Pick up and drop off windows requested through Rover will be in 30-minute increments ONLY. I will no longer accept requests with drop-off times listed from 8am to 5pm. I cannot wait all day for you to show up whenever you want, ESPECIALLY if I have a house full of dogs running around. Communication is KEY! It is officially 2022. I do not know a single person that does not own a cell phone and does not check it periodically. If you have requested a 5pm drop off and think that you will not be here by then PLEASE text me! Do not have me and all the dogs here waiting. If it is inclement weather and all the dogs are inside waiting on a drop off chances are they are barricaded into a room or may be crated waiting on you to show up. I cannot physically hold 10/12/14 dogs back so that I can open the door and allow another dog in without utilizing crates. So, it is not fair to those dogs to have to stay in crates until you decide to show up. **** LATE FEES **** I will be charging late fees starting January 1, 2022. My time is just as important as your time is. I am not “the lady that watches dogs that has no life.” I too must go to the grocery store, have elderly grandparents, nieces that need to be picked up from ballet, etc. If you have not communicated to me that you will be late (more than 15 minutes) past your 30 minute drop off/pickup up window I will charge a $25 late fee. I routinely have clients that I have warned about being Tardy that show up late again, and again, and again. I get it that plans change but again please communicate those changes with me as well. If I verbally warn you about being tardy more than once I will not accept any future bookings from you for your dog. Next, I would like to address some of the consistent problems that I have always had rules for as a reminder to ALL clients: -Food: Please bring your dogs supply of food in a locking container. I am no longer accepting plastic/ziploc bags of food! I keep so many dogs that have severe allergies and cannot have cross contamination of any kind. Plastic bags are not secure and I cannot guarantee that other dogs cannot rip them open. I recommend to clients if you do not have a food container at home I will accept any plastic container (check the storage section at walmart) as these container are often cheaper than the actual dog food containers and are big enough for a week's supply of food. NO TREATS! Unless your dog has a specific allergy and can only have certain treats please leave those at home. If they are necessary, I require those to be bagged sperate but stored in the locking food container. We have and supply treats for the dogs here! All food containers must be labeled and include a measuring scoop/cup with the appropriate amount to be given. Or the amount indicated on the label. If you have NOT provided a “scoop” please indicate the EXACT measurment (½ cup, 1 cup, etc.) If your dog is scheduled for daycare this includes PLAYCARE ONLY! I will NOT complete feedings or administer medications for daycare clients. Dogs must have been fed PRIOR to drop off. If you plan to have a dog here longer than 9 hours you must select BOARDING instead of daycare or extended rate hours will apply. -Medications: Pills may be brought in the following ways 1- Pills stored in the original container with clearly printed instructions (if meds are to be given differently than what is on the pill bottle label those should be in writing and attached to the bottle.) 2- Pills may be individually bagged per dosage (if your dog takes a med 2xs per day and will be here 5 days I expect to have 10 individual baggies each labeled: MON am, MON pm, TUES am, TUES pm, etc.) I am no longer accepting pills that are administered with peanut butter, bread, etc. Owners MUST provide pill pockets for medications. If you do not provide your own bag of pill pockets, I will charge $2 per pill pocket! Medications and pill pockets, must also be stored into a screw top container or inside the locking food container. Please DO NOT bring beds, toys, blankets, kennels, bowls etc. We have these things here available for the dogs to use and do not need to keep up with yours as well! Leashes- ALL Dogs MUST be leashed to and from the car. THIS IS THE LAW! We encourage all owners to have proof that your dog has had flea and tick preventative and is up to date. We DO NOT accept unvaccinated dog or unvaccinated puppies under the age of 4 months. Parking: PLEASE DO NOT block our neighbors' driveways OR stop in the middle of the road. Feel free to block my Lexus in (near the light pole) or to pull in front of our house. You will notice a gravel easment near the road please pull as far as you can into it and not stop in the middle of the road. Doorbell/Knocking: You may have noticed that we recently installed a Ring Doorbell. This is for our safety as well as that of the dogs. We also did this to help cut down on excessive barking! To help in this effort if we haven’t come to the door upon your arrival, please ring the doorbell DO NOT start beating on the door! ****Please send a text when you are on the way to pick up or drop off so that we can be prepared and have your dog ready! **** If you have questions about any of these things, please let me know. I will be happy to discuss any of these points and encourage all feedback. I work from home and am here pretty much 24/7! We wake up at 5am and feed the dogs breakfast at 7am and dinner at 7pm. The whole day varies between playing and napping. I have a large fenced back yard. Lots of friendly dogs here to keep your dog company. And we crate everyone during feeding for their safety.

Marah was a dream! I had to leave the state for work and then a vacation for almost three weeks. My typical sitter was unavailable and I reached out to Marah in a pinch. I can’t say enough great things! She was amazingly helpful, communicative, and welcoming. When I arrived to drop off Obi, I could tell how much knowledge she had about dogs, especially ones that may be a bit nervous with new people (like my Obi). She made me feel so comfortable, talking to me about her typical schedule, when she sends pictures, that I can reach out whenever, and about what she was noticing in my dog’s behavior as he was warming up to the new environment. She has such a warm personality and attention to detail which set me at ease. She waited with me and Obi outside until he seemed comfortable, calm, and interested enough to enter her home. This spoke SO much about her patience and ability to care for the animals she sits. Throughout the time I was gone, I received multiple pictures of Obi each night which helped me to feel at ease and was almost immediate to respond when I reached out to check in. When I picked him up, Marah gave me a wonderful synopsis of my dog’s experience with her as well as some things she noticed about his behavior (for example, she noticed he wasn’t as territorial with food as I thought he may be or how friendly he was with new people). I could tell how tired and happy my pup was from running in her large fenced in backyard with the other cute dogs she was watching. He clearly loved his stay. We will definitely return to Marah in the future. I feel so lucky to have found her!!
