Pet care experience

I have had the opportunity to grown up in a houshold with dogs every since I can remember and through these experiences I have learned that dogs are one of the most pure, loyal, loving animals on this Earth. My love for dogs grew into a passion for all animals and it has motivated me to pursue a career in wildlife conservation. Before accepting an environmental conservation position I worked as an animal technician at a dog daycare and hotel for 6 months which deepened the love and appreciation I have for dogs. Everyday I made it a goal to make sure that I showed the exact same amount of love to each dog that came in so they knew they were loved equally. I built strong relationships with each dog and became very familiar with their personalities and behavioral patterns including their socialization and feeding tendencies. I learned how to administer medications to dogs and how to identify medical concerns. I also familiarized myself with varying dog breeds and their habits; for example, we normally rested Great Danes and playful Dobermans before and after lunch to reduce the likelihood of bloat. I have one beautiful beagle named Luna who I found in the snow during my third year at college and she has brought more happiness and joy into my life than I ever dreamed possible. Luna is without a doubt my best friend and soul mate and I am thankful everyday that somehow in this big, crazy world she found her way to me. My mother, the saint that she is, has been watched Luna for me this past year while I was working as a member of AmeriCorps doing conservation work in here in California. I recently finished my term as an AmeriCorps member but fell in love with the Eastern Sierra's and decided to move here permanently. Although the conservation corps was an amazing experience and allowed me to really explore all of the natural beauty California has to offer, I truly missed my former job at the daycare where I was constantly surrounded by animals. To fill that void I accepted a position at a doggy daycare in South Lake Tahoe and couldn't be more excited to start Rover in this area. I am new to the Tahoe area and would love to meet as many four legged friends as possible.

Mallory has a heart for animals that is truly indescribable. She has such an amazing way with them due to the love she showers on them through her care and kindness. I always trust that my pets are being treated with the utmost care and love when she is around. No matter how gentle or difficult a pet is, she has a way of bringing out the best in each animal and finding some redeeming quality that she chooses to adore! Most definitely a true pet lover who takes wonderful care of pets entrusted to her.

Information Mallory S. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know their socialization patterns. How do they interact with other dogs? Have they had any previous negative experiences with a dog. Often times if a dog has a bad experience with a particular breed that behavior can generalize and they might not feel comfortable around dogs of that breed at a dog park. Do they have any habituatual tendencies when they eat? Some dogs eat better when you put a little hot water in their food to moisten it up. Some dogs only eat out of your hand. I would also like to know if they are on any medications and the best way to administer these. Do you use pill pockets? Do you put it directly in their food?

A typical day

I am a crazy big nature lover and find that a majority of dogs love long walks. I love taking my beagle to Raceway where she can explore the trails. I feel that socialization is a really big contributor to a lot of dogs happiness so dog parks would be a good activity for them.
