Fenced yard and a big park nearby!
Pet care experience
Hi! I'm Makara. I'm a high school graduate of The Northwest School and a rising Freshman at Western Washington University. I live on Capitol Hill. Not only do I have a fenced backyard but my local park, Volunteer Park, is just blocks from my house. I have always wanted a dog but my parents said no. Instead however, my family dog-sat for many of our family members and friends. That was my chance to spend time with familiar dogs and build strong bonds with them. They get extra walks to the park and to the dog park where we can play fetch. Over the years those dogs have come to know my house as a mini vacation. I look forward to taking care of your dog! -Makara Chapko
Reviews
Makara took great care of Mara for 3 days of doggy daycare. I especially appreciated his care in making sure that Mara stayed cool and comfortable during the several days of 90+ degree heat (she gets hot with her dark fur!). Makara was very easy to coordinate with, and I would definitely book with him again.
Makara was very accomodating. We arrived little late the next day and he was fine with us being about an hour late. There is a very nice park near by, where he took our dog for few walks, and sent us pictures of it. He allowed our dog to sleep on his bed, which was not what we do, but we let him spoil our pupp, since he was away from home. Met Makaras' dad for a split second, and I can say this is a very nice, trusworthy family to leave your dog with.
Makara was wonderful! Responsive, caring and took great care of my shy little pup. I can tell that my dog was in great hands, because she warmed up to Makara quickly. She usually doesn't like strangers, but I could tell they got along famously in my update pics. I knew she was at ease when I got a funny picture of her cuddled up on top of Makara's backpack, instead of her doggie bed. That usually means she has great affection for person! I also appreciated that Makara was willing to give Daisy her eye drops -- she got swatted by a kitty right before her scheduled boarding. Makara texted me every time he gave her medicine, which was unexpected but totally nice. Overall, he's a really nice sitter who's gentle and great with timid dogs and little dogs. Would totally book him again!
Makara is a perfect candidate for your dog-sitting/walking needs. He is responsible, caring, intuitive, compassionate, patient, and professional. As his supervisor at Woodland Park Zoo, I had the opportunity to witness him engaging with thousands of guests over the years and addressing our animals with the highest regards. I guarantee he would do the same for your furry friend - giving his full attention to their care and well-being. Makara is also passionately on track to pursue work in the medical field, so he would be comfortable administering medications and treatments as directed. I have no doubt you will enjoy working with Makara!

Information Makara C. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know whether or not your dog is potty trained. How many times a day your dog eats and when to give treats. The age of your dog or your dogs energy level so I can gage how long a walk should be. Your dog's sleeping preferences: On the bed, on the floor, in a room with me, or in a separate room. Does your dog bite or get easily scared/anxious. Under what circumstances should I contact you. (The owner)
A typical day
Walks will be primarily at Volunteer Park if the dog is staying with me. If I stay at a clients house, I will walk their dog at the park nearest to them or a different park upon request. Your dog will get to play fetch and tug-a-war in off-lease areas such as a backyard or a dog park. I enjoy long walks in the park and rolling in the grass should your dog desire to do so.
