Hi, my name is Maile and I have over 20 years of experience caring for animals, mostly in other people's homes. Now that I have a dog of my own (Oyster the "cockahuahua") and a job that allows me to work from home, I am excited to host dogs in my own home and provide them companionship, exercise, friendship, and fun while they are here! My dog Oyster is a 10-pound, really friendly 2-year old Chihuahua-cocker spaniel rescue. He loves other dogs of all sizes. He has outdoor adventures at least three times a day and sleeps on my feet while I am working in the office. He always gets a kick out of having other dogs here and he loves to play and even share his toys. He is not barky or aggressive in any way, but any dogs who come here need to be comfortable with a friendly and energetic small dog! Because we live in an apartment building, visiting dogs need to be comfortable with normal city noises and not prone to barking at or being stressed by typical sounds one encounters in an urban environment. They will get lots of exercise with me so they will probably be tired enough that they won't notice!

I'm super happy to have found Maile. She and her little dog, Oyster are a great fit for Leo and me. Maile has been responsive and thoughtful in her care of Leo. Leo was super excited when he realized where we were going on our second day of daycare.

Franklin LOVES going to hang out with Maile and Oyster! It is so nice for me to drop off Franklin seeing him excited to spend the day with them, it makes me feel okay about leaving him. Maile is very accommodating to your schedule, even last minute changes. I feel completely confident that Franklin has a wonderful time and that's the most important thing to me.

My schedule is very flexible and I am open to last-minute requests. However, it is my policy to always meet potential guest pups in advance. I need to ensure that your pup will get along well with my dog, Oyster, and that in general we are all a match. So please plan to work with me to schedule a meet-and-greet in advance of your pup's stay! Oyster is allowed on the bed and other furniture only by invitation, and that would be my preference for visiting dogs as well. He gets lots and lots of attention, love, and exercise all the time so I don't think he minds! I live in an apartment so smaller breeds are best, but I'm open to any breed, age, size, or sex.
A typical day
For normal walks, we usually go to Volunteer Park, which is quite close. It's great for on-leash outdoor adventures. Every day we will go for a longer walk to the Capitol Hill off-leash dog park at Plymouth Pillars, where they will get at least 90 minutes of walking, running, and playing! At home they can expect more playing with Oyster if they are up for it, plus a LOT of snuggling and snoozing.
