Hi I'm Maia! I can't wait to meet you and your pet! I became a pet sitter because I am aspiring to be a veterinarian. I am currently in my first year of veterinary school! I was 7 years old when I got chinchillas as my first pets. When I was 8 years old, my family and I caught a stray kitten and domesticated him so he would be able to enjoy our loving family. 13 years later we still have him and 3 other pets - 2 dogs and 2 cats! We rescued an American Bulldog mix from a shelter who was abused and being raised as a fighting dog. He was a little nervous at first, but blossomed as we showed him what love is really like. A few years ago, I caught 2 stray kittens myself and domesticated them. I ended up being a "failed foster" and kept one of the kittens, but the other one found a loving home. The kitten we kept, Mason, loved 103 lb dog, Bruiser, more than anything. Because of this, he is slightly confused as to whether he is a cat or a dog. Sadly, our kitten taught my dog how to drink out of the toilet, but my dog taught my kitten how to play fetch. Now, I currently have 2 dogs (another rescue dog and released service dog) and 2 cats. I work at an animal hospital as a veterinary assistant and spend lots of time with large animals. Along with this, I raise service dogs in my free time. Due to the diverse experiences I have with different animals, I know that each animal has their own individual personality. I am calm and patient with them, until I know that they trust me. This ensures I can give them the best care and comfort them. Your pet is a member of your family, and I understand what it is like to stress about them while you're off doing your own thing. I am responsible, understanding and always put animals first - even in my own home. I love meeting new people and their pets -- and being able to witness the love and affection. When your pet is with me, they'll get unconditional love and affection.
