Since the age of 5, my family consistently had 1-2 large dogs. From a young age, I fell in love. I wrote countless stories and held extensive photoshoots featuring my favorite friends. As an adult, I have moved around the country as as wildlife biologist and educator. This has given me training and care experience with creatures from hawks to skunks, but the moving has prevented me from having a dog of my own. These experiences taught me the importance of enrichment for all animals and expertise in positive reinforcement training across species. In the past two years I have dog sat for at least five different families with dogs ranging from Chihuahuas and Pekineses to Greyhounds and Great Danes. I have adapted to the different needs of every dog so I have taken puppies out to pee every half hour and napped endlessly on the couch with seniors. At my previous job, I would take my coworkers' dogs for walks during my afternoons off or keep them occupied during important meetings. Just as I adapted to the activity needs of dogs I sat for overnight, I matched the needs of dogs during the day. For example I would run with the Brittany Spaniel off leash on pavement using her range collar, but would hike the Chesapeake Bay Retriever on her six foot leash through the woods. In fall of 2020 I moved to St. Paul with my partner, Paul who is almost as much of a dog lover as I am. Now that I am settling into a more stable life in the twin cities, I want to spend time helping people give their dogs the engaging and active lives they deserve.
