As an educator, my job requires that I create a nurturing environment that accommodates the needs of my students. While animals are vastly different from children, I take that same attentive approach with the animals in my care. Setting us up for Success... Overall, I make sure I am providing the best service through an initial questionnaire: What is the pet's regular feeding schedule and portion size? Are there any dietary restrictions or specific foods that the pet should avoid? Does the pet have any allergies or sensitivities? Are there any medications that need to be administered, and if so, what is the dosage and schedule? What are the pet's favorite toys or activities for playtime and exercise? Are there any specific behaviors or commands that the pet is familiar with? Does the pet have any fears or triggers that should be avoided? Are there any particular areas in the home where the pet should not have access? What are the pet's bathroom routines and how frequently do they need to be taken outside? Is there an emergency contact or vet information that should be kept on hand in case of any unforeseen circumstances? If Hired… Regular communication with the pet owner is essential, as it allows me to provide updates on their pet's well-being and address any concerns promptly. I tend to send 1-2 pictures/videos a day to owners, so they feel reassured that their pet is giving the love and care they deserve. (Unless otherwise directed.) I prioritize the well-being and happiness of the pets entrusted to my care. I give them plenty of affection, attention, and mental stimulation to keep them content and reduce any separation anxiety they may experience. Ultimately, my goal is to ensure that pets feel loved, secure, and comfortable while their owners are away.
