I Care for Your Pet Like My Own
Pet care experience
Hello! My name is Maggie. I moved to DC 6 years ago and currently work remotely, full-time giving me a lot of flexibility during the day to care for your dog. (If you’re seeing this in South Carolina, I visit my hometown often so I take care of pets in both locations.) I currently have a 9-year-old lab mix who I have raised from 6 weeks old. I have been caring for other people's dogs, cats, and other pets for over 18 years. I have owned dogs my entire life and I know the level of attention and care they need. (Really - I have only gone a couple of months without a dog in my life!) I will care for your dog or cat like they are my own. I know how I would want my dogs to be treated while I am away. From your brand new puppy to well-loved senior dog, I can take care of every need from administering medication, training, or going their pace on a walk. I am experienced with walking senior dogs with hip slings and supportive harnesses. My own dog is leash aggressive, so I have some experience with that. I'll never be on my phone while walking your dog - I'll always be attentive. Don't worry if your pet has accidents as well - I have no hesitation cleaning that up and will never leave them in that environment.
Reviews
Maggie walks my pup every week and is very reliable and great with updates (and gives attention to my extroverted cat). She always leaves detailed notes and pictures so I know how the walks went.

Maggie was amazing with our dog, Daisy! She went above and beyond helping us even after a snowstorm. She made sure Daisy was able to get outside, but ensured she didn't get too cold and her paws were protected against the ice

Safety, trust & environment
I am very wary of the safety of your pet. Before I check-in or walk your pet, I will ask what behaviors they have that would put them at risk - running out of doors, not getting along with other dogs, eating stuff they shouldn't around the house, etc.
Information Maggie B. would like to know about your pet
Any behaviors to know ahead of time would be useful from their fun quirks to stuff that would impact their personal safety and/or mine. If you are practicing a training technique, I want to maintain consistency for them. I would like to know how receptive your dog is to people and other dogs while on walks. I don't purposefully approach people or dogs while walking yours, but I would like to be prepared if I can't cross the street in time). My own dog has developed some leash-aggression, so I am used to avoiding other dogs while on walks and helping to handle that situation (practicing the training myself). For both dogs and cats, I would like to know if they are aggressive in any way towards you or strangers.
A typical day
Depending on how hot the pavement is, we will go on sidewalk walks or play inside for most of the time if the weather is too hot/cold/inclement. I will always keep your dog on a leash. I will avoid the woods if it has been raining recently to avoid muddy paws.

Availability
I currently work from home and have a car. I have plenty of flexibility throughout the day to take a break and walk or check-in on your pet.
