Animal lover with flexible schedule

Pet care experience

I am a compassionate sitter and person. I genuinely care for others, owners and pets. As a pet owner myself, I know how difficult is is to leave your pet in the hands of stranger and I know how much pets miss their owners. I currently have one dog, Xander. He’s a 6-year-old Border Collie mix. My other dog Puck lives with my parents — a beautiful 9-year-old Golden Retriever. Last year my roommate adopted two puppies, a Pit Bull and a Mastiff. I had a more flexible schedule, so I took care of them. As a kid, I always had two dogs, so I am very used to multiple-dog households. In college, I worked as Vet Tech for 5 years. My responsibilities included talking to clients, medicating pets, cleaning kennels, monitoring in surgery, restraining pets, doing x-rays, and giving dentals. I loved this job but I was studying music, so when I graduated and moved to TX, I could no longer work as a tech — in Texas you must be certified, unlike in Louisiana. During this same time, I house/pet sat for my professors. I cared for both dog families and cat families. I have experience with cats, turtles, fish, snakes, hamsters, rats, ferrets, and birds. I enjoy working with many types of animals, and would love to offer care for all kinds. During the school year I teach voice lessons. So, I am stuck sitting behind a piano. The summer leaves me a lot of free time, so Rover is a great time for me to spend time with pups. I love traveling, so the flexibility of making my own schedule is great. The biggest reason I’m a dog sitter, of course, is that I love working with animals! I love the opportunity to meet new pups! Some of my favorite breeds are Corgis, French Bulldogs, Golden Retrievers, Huskies, and Standard Poodles. Every dog has such a different personality, so it's fun to meet all different kinds.

Madonna was WONDERFUL! Our dogs fell in love with her right when she came to the house for a meet-and-greet before we left. She sent updates and pictures during the stay. Madonna is truly an angel and I'm happy to have found our permanent pet-sitter!

She's been fantastic at helping me take care of my cats when I've had to go out of town. She's extremely reliable and dependable. I highly recommend her!

I have known Madonna for over 10 years. I first knew her in a clinical setting, having worked with her when I was a veterinary technician and she was a veterinary assistant. Madonna is, and always has been, a very compassionate person. Throughout our time as co-workers, I learned that she cares a great deal about animals and their owners. She would always go out of her way to make people and their pets as comfortable as possible. As we have both moved onto other careers now, I still see this same love of animals with her own pets. She always sends me cute little pictures of her dogs. And, yes, I have gotten birthday party pics with her little "fur babies" sitting front and center; hat included! Even though Madonna is no longer working with animals every day, I still see those same characteristics that made her so gexceptional as a veterinary assistant. She is still warm and compassionate. No matter the task, she always gives 100% of her energy and effort. Madonna is detail-oriented, but also well spoken, giving her the ability to put others at ease. I know that if I were to go out of town, I would absolutely trust her with my own pets. (She is one of the very few people that I would trust completely.) I would encourage anyone to let Madonna take care of their own little ones. When a trip out of town or a few days away from home must take place, the last thing that someone should worry about is whether or not their pets are doing well. With Madonna pet-sitting, there will be no worrying, just peace of mind knowing that your pets are being loved and cared for by a genuine and kindhearted person.

Madonna is a fantastic pet owner and sitter. She's had years of experience with dogs and cats; and her experience working in a veterinary office makes her an even more wonderful candidate to watch your fur-baby. She loves animals of all kinds and cares for them as if they were her own. My pets are always delighted when she watches them or even comes over to play with them!

Information Madonna G. would like to know about your pet

I would like the clients to tell me if their pet is skittish around new people and if so, I would like to meet the animal with the owners before I begin caring for them. I like to follow the rules of letting the dogs smell me before I try to pet them. Also, with owner's approval, I would like to offer the pup a treat to ensure they will trust me. I’ll be available to meet with the owners and pets before beginning any services. I will also be available by text or phone call any time to speak to the owners. I am a responsible sitter — I am considerate when scheduling meetings and and very careful while your dog is in my care.

A typical day

My schedule is completely open other than a few appointments here and there. So your pup and I will have a lot of time to take walks, play in the park, and snuggle. If the pup lives in a neighborhood with a sidewalk, walking there would be a great start! I also enjoy Harberger park, the trails at McAllister park, and the dog parks nearby. My residence has a dog park as well, and it is usually empty. If the owners are okay with the pup hanging out with me outside of their home, taking the pup to a restaurant with a patio is also something I think they would enjoy.
