Thoughtful & Compassionate Pet Care

Pet care experience

Caring is an integral part of who I am. I first rescued an injured raven at the age of two, and my love for animals has only grown since then. I have six years of professional experience with canines and felines working as a veterinary assistant in the Portland Metro area. I am comfortable with all breeds and temperaments, having experience in a medical setting how to safely and compassionately offer care. I have a deep respect for the human-animal bond with an emphasis on honoring each animals spirit. Every animal is different, and I love learning what works best for your fur baby and making them as comfortable as possible. It's important to me to keep the experience positive, and work on building trust with each animal I encounter. I believe in fear-free & reward based techniques, coupled with exercise and mentally stimulating games.

Madison gave us so much comfort watching our senior Boston Terrier for 2 weeks. We received regular picture updates that were descriptive, informative and gave us peace of mind. Madison was absolutely lovely, communicative, and patient with our fur baby. Our home was also perfectly clean and tidy when we got back. We highly recommend Madison for any short term or long term sitting and will certainly be asking her to watch our old pup in the future.

I had a great experience with Madison. Her love for animals fills rooms, which makes my dog very happy and allows me to trust her with my dog for long periods of time. That’s already a win for me, but her experience of professional work with animals gives me an irreplaceable sense of security; I can be away without a worry. Madison is an amazing teacher. She has walked me through how to better care for my dog in a way I can easily understand and answers all of the questions I have with thought and precision. I feel more equipped to care for my dog when she leaves Person-to-person: Madison is friendly, respectful, a great listener, and a great communicator. So working with her has been very easy and leaves me feeling good about the experience. Madison is a great person to work with and her professional experience really sets her apart from other people that have taken care of my dog. I will definitely be requesting her time again.

I have a strong belief in advocating for each animals individual needs, and consider it a requirement to meet each pet for who they are (and where they are at). Additionally, I have a passion for education! I love to empower pet owners as they navigate medical care for their pets (under supervision and direction of a veterinarian). I have extensive experience in technical demonstration of subcutaneous injections and oral medication administration with felines and canines.

Information Madison P. would like to know about your pet

Being apart of the veterinary industry for the past six years has allowed me many opportunities to understand and facilitate care for a wide range of animal temperaments. For safety, it is important to disclose any history with anxiety or aggression to prepare for a successful experience for all involved. Additionally, any history of reactivity with other animals needs to be discussed so I am able to protect and help your pet feel comfortable in the outside world.

A typical day

I love walking & hiking! Living in Portland is a perfect place to experience nature. Frequented areas include : Peninsula Park, Gabriel Park, Council Crest, Tryon Creek, Forest Park, Sellwood Riverfront Park, and even simple neighborhood walks. I enjoy working on basic obedience commands on these adventures and rewarding with treats (approved by owner.)

I'm currently fielding many requests, but continue to have availability on a daily or weekly basis. I am interested in traveling to clients homes so pets can remain in their "safe space" while they are cared for.
