We are incredibly troubled over our experience with Madi. Our initial interaction and communication with Madi was great. She let us know she had oral surgery scheduled for the first day of the stay and asked if we would be okay with her fiance helping her during that time; which we were completely okay with. We met both of them before the stay and walked thru the home, went over the typed out instructions I had prepared and introduced them to our fur babies. The expectation being that they would be staying at the home while we were gone (including overnight) and could leave the boys alone for a couple of hours if needed. Unfortunately, on the evening of the second day, our neighbors told us that no one had been at the house for six hours. By the time the fiance returned, our cat and 11 year old, anxiety ridden dog were left alone in the dark with no water for 7 hours. He then told our neighbor that he didn't know anything about animals (that was not mentioned at all previously). Yet he was left alone with them and Madi was not at our house recovering; as it had been represented to us that she would be there and he would simply be helping her during her recovery. We contacted Madi immediately after hearing of these events and she was unapologetic and defensive. We cancelled immediately and had a family member take over at midnight as we no longer felt that our fur babies were being cared for. The pet sitting experience (and lack thereof) with Madi was stressful and cast a shadow of anxiety over the remainder of our vacation. Being out of state and feeling helpless to help our babies was a horrible feeling that we would not wish on anyone. I can't say what Madi's level of responsibility usually is, but we will not be using or recommending her.
