Pet care experience
I've had a variety of pet sitting experiences since I was in high school and I have always enjoyed caring for people's pets. Since joining the Rover community, my love and appreciation for pet sitting has grown immensely. I have had the opportunity to connect with animals and people I may have never gotten the chance to meet! I'm witnessing so many beautiful parts of the Des Moines community through pet care. Getting to connect with an animal is very special, and I would be honored to have that opportunity with anyone's pet(s). When I care for your pet, the benefits are going both ways. I will make sure your pet is safe and comfortable while you're away, and in return, I meet a furry friend that brings me to a mindful space. I have a bachelor's degree in social work and the main practice I have carried through in every job since is that it's important to meet people/animals where they are at. Whatever you as an owner or your pet brings to the table, I will do my best to accommodate and adapt. I will be clear and honest about my skills and limits so you can make sure I am the right fit for you precious pet(s)! Can't wait to chat with you!
Reviews
Madi is a terrific pet and house sitter. My cat, Cooper, might like Madi better than me :). I highly recommend hiring Madi.
Madi does an outstanding job with my dog! He gets good walks and I get good photos of him while I’m away.
Madi was so great. They were very communicative and were very thoughtful with extra details like bringing in packages. Will definitely rebook!
Mari B did a fantastic job taking care of our Jon Jon. She even made progress in teaching Jon Jon how to play fetch. And as a rescue dog Jon Jon has many difficulties that Madi handled beautifully. And she made sure to keep the rest of the house running smoothly as well. Can’t give Madi B. a high enough recommendation. If you want the dog/house sitting done to perfection, have Madi B. do it. I know we will.

I will fulfill the needs of your pets in your home with the directions given to me for the drop-in visits or house sit. I make sure to ask specific questions before providing services so I understand what your pet's needs are and how I can best cater to them. I will always ask for input from you, the owner, if I am ever unsure of a situation that comes up during a drop-in or house sit.
Information Madi B. would like to know about your pet
Please tell me if your dog is on any medications for anything. Even if you are not going to have me administer the medication, I would like to know in the case there is a potential reaction to the medication and/or symptoms of the condition they are being medicated for that I can keep an eye on. I would also like to know how your dog is when you are not around, to the best of your ability. Will this be there first time being away from their owners? Are they anxious, oblivious that you're even gone, sad? And what behaviors do they exhibit as a result of those feelings they experience? The more transparent you can be, the better it is for me and most importantly your dog. If you're honest about your dog's needs and behaviors, I can be transparent about my skill set and what situations I am able to handle.

If you have access to a dog park, I LOVE taking dogs there. It's a great way for the dog to socialize and burn off that energy. I love going outside and walking to most places within Des Moines. If I can bring a dog with me, I will! Some of my favorite areas to walk around are the Woodland Cemetery, Pappajohn Sculpture Park, and Gray's Lake. I can find happiness anywhere if I'm walking with a dog :) Don't worry about the weather! I am willing to walk in rain, snow, sun or clouds as long as your dog has what they need to stay safe, warm/cool and comfortable.

One of my other jobs is a manager at a coffee shop. My shifts can vary but I always work four days/week. The earliest I start work is 5:30am and the latest I get done is 9:30pm. I am an early bird and can complete drop-ins, walks, etc. before heading into work, and will not be able to come back for more pet care until the end of my shift. However, if you live near the Sherman Hill area I am usually able to drive over during my break to give dogs a bathroom/play break. My other jobs/gigs are very flexible and singular events that pop-up here and there. I keep my Rover calendar updated when I know I'll be out of town. Overall, my schedule is very flexible and I can accommodate you and your pet's schedule to the best of my ability.
