Experienced pet sitter!
Pet care experience
I've taken care of my own three dogs in the past 20 years with my family, each with unique temperaments, making me well-versed in taking care of dogs from the most agreeable and calm to those much more moodier. I know the signs of many health issues such heat exhaustion, indigestion, and respiratory problems, and I have emergency experience taking animals safely to the vet in crisis. I’ve dealt with many elderly dogs and those needing medication administration both personally and professionally. Since moving to NYC 5 years ago, I’ve consistently lived with cats and taken responsibility for feeding, litter box cleaning, and socializing with my housemates. I’m trusted as a sitter for many people in my community and make sure to dedicate specific time for hanging out with cats on drop-ins that some sitters may not think the cat needs compared to dogs needs (playing, walking etc). I love taking care of animals and I have a lifetime of experience that I’ll bring with me as a walker and sitter. :-)
About Madelyn S.
Communication
Skills
Safety, trust & environment
In general, I take a gentle approach to getting to know animals and entering their spaces. Going in open to reading your pets behavior and mood rather than approaching focused on an immediate task (leashing etc) is important to building trust! You can’t rush creating relationships with animals nor their care.
Information Madelyn S. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know any and all medical-related issues with your pet! From medications, to specific foods they won’t ingest and any personal quirks they have (i.e if it’s strange or normal if they sometimes don’t pee on a walk or eat food right away when it’s given to them).
A typical day
As much as possible in the city, I love getting outside with dogs, even if we just go sit on a blanket in a park for a while. With any animal playing with toys and talking to them are super important activities!

Availability
I work remotely part time so I have the ultimate flexible schedule for drop-ins, walks and sits. I am completely free weekdays after 2pm, but can always be close by for sits with pets who have special concerns or needs due to the remote basis.
