Happiness is dog-shaped 💞

Pet care experience

To say that dogs have always been a part of our lives is no hyperbole: we have both lived our entire lives with a dog- a house is empty without at least one! We both have cared for dogs of every kind for 14 years. We have been pet sitting via Rover since April of 2023, and have had over 175 total bookings (to include boardings, day care, and walks) in that timespan. We LOVE meeting new pups and making them feel comfortable while their owners are away. Pets are part of your family. We want you to have no worries while you’re away from your pups and are happy to provide as many updates as you’d like. We will treat your pets as our own, and make them feel at home. Our three labradors are excellent at welcoming new pups to their pack! They'll play with your pup as much as your pup desires, but they also have a great "off switch" if your pup's not big into playing. We have three baskets full of dog toys to share with your pup- nylabones, tennis balls, stuffed toys- you name it, we probably have it. Does your pup need extra love and attention? To play a seemingly never-ending game of fetch? Lots of exercise? Are they a couch potato who just likes to snuggle inside? We’re happy to do whatever it takes to make your pup happy ☺️

They did a great job with my dog. He was able to play with their dogs and they sent overtures while I was gone! They were responsive and communicative. Would recommend!

Thank you for taking good care of my sweet fur baby! While we were gone you kept us updated with what Odin was doing and so glad that he found a second home! You gals did beyond our expectations and so grateful for everything! We will definitely be bringing him back for daycare to play with your pups and also for boarding in the future! Again, thank you so much!

We have a large-sized fenced in yard, a two story house in a neighborhood close to multiple parks and walking trails, and three very friendly Labrador retrievers to keep your pup company. Our boys are very playful with other pups, but they also are great at reading other dogs' body language! If your pup isn't into playing, no worries; our pups are also happy to nap the afternoon away.

Any quirks or special needs/requirements. We are happy to accommodate, just ask! Let us know about any food allergies. We have Kirkland brand dog cookies that we are happy to share with your pup, so long as it won’t upset their tummies!

A typical day

As noted before, we take our pups on a walk every night! Rain, snow, 0° or 70°. We have a great loop that we walk right in our neighborhood, and multiple options for long or short walks. If your pup’s not a walker, no problem! Is your pup into fetch of any kind? Having 3 Labrador retrievers, we consider ourselves professionals in the Fetch game :) We have a few frisbees, a whole bucket of baseballs and tennis balls (at our chocolate lab’s request) that we are happy to share with your pup if they’re into a good game of fetch! Our backyard is fenced, and provides a nice large area for a safe game of fetch! For the winter months: we are fortunate to have easy, quick access through our neighborhood to the Anchorage coastal refuge area- we call it the "frozen bluff". It's a wide open area that, during the winter months, freezes over, and provides a giant playground for our pups. It's a short walk from our house, and we are happy to bring your high energy pups with us when we head out to the bluff! We typically cross-country ski alongside our pups, but also use the area as a place to play fetch (if the snow's not too deep), or as a place for off-leash walks. Let us know if your pup has great recall and is able to be off-leash! If not, we are happy to keep them leashed at all times. We're super outdoorsy folks, and are happy to bring your pups on adventures with us! We're also happy to have an easy day at the house cuddling your pup, if they're not big into adventures. Just let us know what would make them happiest!

As far as our schedule, we both have weekend days entirely off. Karen has a floating day off each week in addition to Saturdays and Sundays. Additionally, we both work "hybrid remote" schedules, meaning there typically at least one of us is home at all times throughout the week. Our daily routines revolve around our pups! For exercise, during the spring/summer/fall months, we walk our pups both before and after work (gotta love those long Alaskan daylight hours!). In the winter, we strap on our headlamps and walk our pups in the evening! We have quite a few nice trails/walking paths in our neighborhood, so getting our pups exercise is easy. We will gladly bring your pup along with us on our daily walks, so they can get some exercise in during their stay! As far as feeding schedule, we typically feed our boys in the morning once we wake up (around 6:30a), and in the early evening around 5p. We typically feed any pups we are boarding along with our dogs, but if your pup is on a special feeding schedule, we are happy to accommodate!
