Experienced Pet Sitter

Pet care experience

I have a long history of raising & caring for dogs & cats of all sizes and ages. My experience extends to volunteering with Guide Dogs for the Blind in their puppy-raising program, where I acquired valuable skills in basic puppy training that focuses on positive reinforcement methods. My passion for animal welfare led me to work at Pet Partners, a non-profit organization that registers therapy animals all over the nation. I have completed the Pet Partners Canine body language course, Infection Prevention and Control course, and becoming a therapy dog handler course. As an animal caregiver, I have worked with numerous special needs dogs and can carry medium-sized dogs if need be. I have experience caring for the following breeds: Saint Bernard Shitzu Yorkshire Terrier West Highland White Terrier Cairn Terrier Great Dane German Shephard Bulldog French bulldog Pug Shih Tzu Chow Pitbull Golden Retriever Black Lab Yellow Lab Golden Doodle Mixed Breeds Cats: Main Coon British Shorthair

I have observed Madeline interacting with my 9 year old American Staffordshire Terrier several times each week for the past 4 months. She has an obvious affection for dogs, and an easy manner with them which they respond to well. She would be joyful and conscientious in caring for any dogs she works with, and will make an excellent dog sitter.

Safety, trust & environment

When caring for pets in my clients' homes: I always make sure that I know the house rules regarding pets before starting with a new client. I ensure that the pets are safe and that dangerous items are out of reach. If an incident occurs before my arrival (accidents/etc) I make sure to document and inform the owners as well as do my best to clean up if possible. For that reason please let me know the location of any cleaning materials if there ever is an unexpected accident. If the pet is staying at my home, I go on regular walks with the pet and ensure they have plenty of enrichment. If needed I am happy to continue crate training as animals appreciate having a space of familiarity when staying somewhere new. I will take lots of pictures for the owners as well as give the pup/cat anything it may need for enrichment. To make sure we are set up for success I will give the owners a list of basic items that must be with the pet upon arrival to ensure the animal's comfort. (Bed/Crate if needed/Litter box/Toys/Food/Treats).

Information Madeline B. would like to know about your pet

How are they with other animals? Do they have anything that they are skittish about? Do they struggle with food aggression? Do they have any food allergies or pre-existing health issues that I should be aware of? What is their favorite food/toy? What motivates them? What are you currently working on with them training-wise? What is their usual schedule?

A typical day

Lots of cuddles and play time! I always want to ensure the animal has plenty of enrichment. These are some of the activities I have done in the past with pets: Regular walks Basic training sessions (Basic obedience training like sit, lay down, roll over, etc) Hide and go seek Random night time zoomie sessions Enjoying sunny days outside whenever possible Hair brushing

I have a very open schedule and can help take care of animals during the day/early evenings. I enjoy going on walks and spending time with animals. I decided to start up Rover again to help pet owners who are struggling with leaving their fur babies at home when they have to commute to work.
