Experienced doggy caretaker & lover

Pet care experience

I have cared for my own dog for 8 years now, and grew up caring for family dogs. I pride myself on my patience with animals. I put years of regular, consistent training into my own dog and utilized my Psychology BA to incorporate theory (primarily behaviorist theory) into her training routine. I have experience with reactive dogs as well as experience medicating and providing basic medical care to dogs. I will not assist with aggressively human-reactive or aggressively dog-reactive dogs to ensure the safety of my own dog and myself. My home is child-free, cat-free, quiet, and I am normally home almost all day on days I mark myself available. I have two guinea pigs on a shelf out of my 50lb husky mix’s view. If your dog is likely to climb and pull their enclosure down/hurt them somehow, please refrain from booking anything in my home. I am very comfortable with older dogs and younger dogs. I have hard floors, so accidents are never a big deal. I do not require a crate-trained dog. I am comfortable orally-medicating dogs. I usually pill the dog (open mouth, medication placed rapidly at the back of the throat, head lifted gently and throat massaged, usually a tiny bit of food given after to confirm that the medication was swallowed) but if you would like it done differently or your dog is likely to bite, please let me know and I will accommodate. My dog lives here too and gets along well with other dogs. She gets along incredibly well with any person of any age. She is very tolerant and is very obedient with me. I would love to meet you and your dog!

Maddee has been great help with my two dogs, one puppy and one 12 year old lab, named Wesley and Gus.They are always excited to see her and have always been well behaved under her care. She’s thoughtful with instructions and treats our family’s dogs like her own. We’re grateful for her help.

My dog, Cobi, always looks forward to when Maddee comes to walk her. Maddee is so considerate of Cobi’s unique needs and is incredibly patient with her as she pulls when walking. Maddee is always on time and treats my dog as if she were her own! Cobi can be timid around aggressive dogs, and Maddee reports back any instances where such encounters have happened and how she helped dissipate any altercations from happening. She is a light in my life and takes a huge weight off my shoulders knowing Cobi is taken care of when I am working.

Maddee was fantastic! She was incredibly attentive and receptive to my dog's needs, and went above and beyond to keep my dog happy while I was away. I would highly recommend Maddee and will be using her again in the future!

I separate my dog from a boarded dog when either animal is eating. I always have 1-2 bowls of fresh, filtered water out. I have a small, fenced yard with a tent specifically for dogs set up for shade. I live within walking distance of the John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Eastern Animal Hospital, and the Joseph E Lee park, so there is easy outdoor access and plenty of walking area. If you have any wants or accommodations not covered here, please do not hesitate to reach out. I will do my best to cater to you.

Information Maddee R. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know if the dog is reactive and how reactive, as well as its triggers. If the dog has documented bite history I will not care for them. I would like to know if your dog is protective of toys or food. Please let me know if your dog has any health conditions or symptoms I need to watch for, and who their vet is. Please let me know if your dog is likely to climb onto a shelf and attack my guinea pigs.I will not house a dog that is likely to do that. The shelf holding the guinea pigs is about four feet tall. There is no free counter space surrounding it. I would like to know if your dog is crate-trained. There is no crate in my home, but I am willing to use yours if it is brought with the dog. I would like to know if your dog can be left home alone for short periods of time, like a grocery store trip, and what you would like that to look like if at all. It is not often that I do this but it’s important to know your preference still. This allows me to cater better to each dog. Allergies and medications (if they have any) are good to know as well. If you’re dog takes medication, I would like to know the schedule for the medication and how they’re normally given the medicine. I am used to pilling a dog (placing the medication in the back of their throat then massaging their throat so they swallow quickly) and finely chopping or mixing medicines into high-value food. Please tell me how you would like your dog medicated and I will do my best to cater to that.

A typical day

I wake up every day off and provide my dog with a medium-length walk first thing in the morning, and your dog would also get an this treatment each morning unless otherwise specified. Afterwards, they’re fed separated from each other. If a dog needs more exercise or walking then I go to a park to walk or play in a fenced-in area, typically my backyard. If requested, going to Patterson is not an issue for me. I just don’t do it often. I also care for my guinea pigs most in the morning usually. I am able to move their enclosure into a separate room, but I do not want an extremely prey-driven dog to scratch at the door of the room containing the guinea pigs. After breakfast and a morning walk, we usually spend some time relaxing. I love a snuggly dog :-). I am home a lot, so most of my days consist of being mellow and at home. Please tell me if your dog is able to be left home alone or not for short periods of time. My dog is almost never left home alone but does come with in the car if I have to run errands normally. Please let me know if you would like your dog to accompany me on such trips, stay home alone, or stay home with my dog. I can accommodate either. I go for an afternoon walk and an evening walk as well, usually through the park. I feed dinner separating my animal from the other dog again. We spend time relaxing again normally. I have a fairly mellow lifestyle so lower energy dogs are preferred; however, I am capable of handling high energy dogs. I have multiple puzzle toys if they require added stimulation. All dog toys are put up unless one is using a puzzle toy, which I provide to dogs once separated to avoid potential conflict.
