Pet care experience
I have experience caring for all kinds of dogs, from puppies to senior, small to large, and aggressive to friendly. I began my animal care career when I was a junior in high school (9 years ago) and it is something I am very passionate about. I started caring for neighbors, friends, and family pets first. My senior year of high school I started working at a local vet hospital/kennel. I was a kennel technician for 4 years and I had the opportunity to work with all kinds of dogs and cats during my time at the kennel. After high school, I attended Penn State where I received my bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Science Option. While at Penn State I had the opportunity to take multiple courses that added to my animal care knowledge. I completed an externship at a doggy daycare in State College. I also had the privilege to complete an internship at On The Wings of Angels animal rescue in Florida. The rescue saved dogs from animal shelters that were on death row. Typically these dogs had a history of aggression and the rescue would bring them in and rehabilitate them in order for them to be rehomed. During my time at the rescue I had the opportunity to train these dogs in order for them to be placed in their forever home. My main training dog, Mocha, was successfully rehomed after my internship was completed and she is living a lovely life with her new owner. After I graduated from Penn State, my animal career took a slight turn away from companion and into large animals. I worked in the dairy industry as a reproduction manager and AI technician for 4 years. Most recently I have started working at a local college as the Animal Facility Manager for the psychology and biology department. My passion for animal care has never wavered. As a young girl, I loved caring for my family dog, Maxwell. Currently I have a cat, Ellie, and I love her with my whole heart. I consider myself to be a cat and dog person because I love them both equally. I would love the opportunity to help local community members by walking and caring for their beloved pets!

Mackenzie cares for your pets like they’re her own! She communicates well and often and sends pet update photos! When we returned from our trip, our dogs seemed totally calm and happy (and like they barely missed us)! Mackenzie is awesome!!

Mackenzie was outstanding. Her timing was perfect and she did everything we asked and more! With three dogs, one just a puppy, there was much to do. But she apparently had no trouble at all. She spent lots of time and she noticed much detailed behaviors of the trio that we recognized! Mackenzie’s “pupdates” were extremely detailed and put us at ease that all was well while we were away. Most importantly the dogs adore her. When she came over for a quick meeting to learn about the dogs, they immediately took to her - something they don’t do frequently. We would absolutely hire Mackenzie again ?
Mackenzie is reliable and sends us the cutest updates about our pup. We are so thankful she is able to be there with him when we aren’t

I will bring the same type of energy to match each and every dog I work with. I love to stimulate dogs physically and mentally but that looks different for every dog. I can adapt depending on what each dog needs. Playing games, walking, running, or just loving on them, I can bring that all to the table.

Availability
I’m currently working full time at a local college and would be available anytime after 4pm. Depending on the time of year, my schedule becomes more flexible. During summers and college breaks, my schedule becomes part-time at the animal facility. I am also flexible on weekends all year around.
