Professional care, Personal touch.

Pet care experience

I am a devoted caring individual for the Best Friend many pet parents have in their home, your dog, a member of your family. I have always gone the extra mile, whether it was required of not, in taking care of your 'furson' by requesting a meet-up with you, the Pet Owner, so that I can talk directly with you. I also believe it very important to take this opportunity to "interview" your pet, eye-to-eye, at his or her physical level where the non-verbal communication between the two of us will be crucial from the very beginning. I am direct communicator with dogs. I am known, for example, for introducing new play routines when taking care of a pet over the long-term. It could be, for example, in a safe situation off-leash tag game which may benefit your pet and might become a new opportunity to interact with your family member. Or it might be that I start modification of behavioral traits, with pet owner approval, such as training your dog to sit at a street corner before embarking into the signaled crosswalk, on command, and always without treats. Overall I am able to adjust to the energy level of most dogs. I have taken care of a number of senior dogs, many with multiple issues including the need to administer multiple medications up to and including being on guard for the most serious of aliments, such as seizures. I work remotely as a technical writer and editor, I travel alone, I am non-smoker and I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19+. My background vetting includes the rigorous checks required for approval in the U.S. Custom and Border Protection's Global Entry Program. I am a very careful guest in your home, whether I am picking up your dog for a routine walk or staying in you home for one or 29 nights or longer. I am frequently requested for follow up in-home pet sits for as long as a month or more. I would use your kitchen sparingly while staying in your home and my references support that my overall cleanliness standards are very high.

Lynton was a wonderful communicator. He send daily photos and updates concerning my 8 month, super energetic puppy - despite me claiming I was off grid. (Which I was most of the 5 days.) I did manage to receive his updates (asynchronously) and they were SO COMFORTING as any pet parent can attest. Additionally he took EXCELLENT care of my mature SF home. If you want someone to trust with both your pet and your home, Lynton is your choice!

Lynton was very conscientious and responsible. He was prepared with good questions and came to meet us in person before the pet sit. I knew our pets would be in great hands while we were away.

Lynton was very kind to my dog, who is 16 years old and requires special needs like taking medicine, small meals multiple times a day and slow walking. Lynton was very patient with her and sent me cute pics every day. House was also very clean when I returned, appreciated that.

It is very important to talk with you in your home and gauge the level of security for your pet, whether that be his or her own room or a pet crate for sleeping arrangements. Rover.com has very high standards and I was adhering to the same before I joined this platform. Regarding your home environment, many dogs are restricted in their access to various parts of the family home. I always respect and honour the wishes of you, the Pet Parent. At least one in-person evaluation is key for you to make a decision about my professionalism and my ability to relate to and 'handle' your dog successfully. I often request you accompany the two of us on a short walk together, followed by another short walk by me alone with just your dog, Whether this leads to an introductory 'test' dog walking engagement on your part, whether we later consider a recurring dog walking arrangement, a home pet stay, the decision to be made always primarily involves you, me and importantly, your dog. I look forward to meeting you and your dog.

Information Lynton D. would like to know about your pet

Any medications, dosing schedules, veterinary information and emergency contact information, together form the basis of a solid checklist before a pet care arrangement is agreed. We will discuss behaviour concerns for your dog, if any, in detail. While this type of detailed information is common sense if I am to to have control over your dog and the commensurate responsibility for the welfare of your family member - and that of your home - your candid information about your family member is very important. Consequently we can immediately establish an honest and trustworthy relationship between the two of us, as Pet Parent and professional pet care provider.

A typical day

A typical schedule for a home stay. In this case, for two 11 month old English Bulldogs, as set by the pet parents who engaged me for a 14 day home stay: 8:00am- Wake up, take out for potty break in yard, play/ stretch 8:15am- Breakfast: 1 cup Royal Canine with 1tsb Salmon Oil, 2 probiotic 8:30am- Morning walk (20-30 mins), usually down the hill and back up 8:30am-10:30am- Play Area/ Free Time 10:30am-Potty Break Outside/ Play time indoor/ Outdoor yard 11:30-1:30- Nap time 1:30pm- Potty Break outside 1:30pm-4:30pm-Relax, indoor play, free time 4:30- Potty Break/ Yard Play 4:30- Dinner: 1cup Royal Canine, 2 probiotic 4:45-6:00- Play Time indoor/ Outdoor yard 6:00-7p- Bedtime 9:30pm-Wake up for Potty break Every Pet Parent has favourite places to walk and play with their dogs. With owner permission, and if the dog is conditioned to accept such, I am an all-weather dog walker and dog handler. This might involve your usual trails, up to and including beach and surf strolls, in other words anything in the accepted and normal routine. Dog washing at your home, usually shower-based, is a customary practice is for me to deal with in terms of mud, sand and other grime. Mobile dog grooming services for long-term house stays are very convenient and usually involve less stress on senior dogs in particular. As I referenced above, I am direct communicator with dogs. I am known, for example, for introducing new play routines when taking care of a pet over the long-term. One of my favourite dog parks in the City is the recently opened in April 2022 'Pepi's Park Dog Run' at Francisco Park, Bay and Hyde Street which you may find on-line under 'Francisco Park Dog Play Area'. If you haven't been there yet, I would encourage you to try it out. Compact though it is, this park is also a perfect location to evaluate many of the social skills your dog had developed over time as well as an excellent place for you and I to meet in the field.
