Wanna be a Dog Mom

Pet care experience

I've grown up with animals on a farm with various poultry and goats and visiting with friends cows. I have cared for large and small breed dogs, including an Anatolian Shepherd on the farm and my in-laws Great Dane when they have occasionally gone out of town for the week. My mother-in-law is a vet and gives my husband and I advice when we ask about getting a dog of our own. We hear stories from her work so we are familiar with how to properly care for the health and well-being of an animal - and what happens when you don't. She has shown how to administer medicine and some basic care of injuries. I have a little experience with injecting medicines with needles. I'll only take on one pet (or multiples from the same household) at a time so your pet will get plenty of love. Working with you will be a way for me to earn money but also might help me cure my puppy fever! My husband and I have plans to get a dog but its just not the right time for us yet. I hope to have a chance to meet your fur baby!

We left our dogs with Lydia again and she and her family were so wonderful. They were flexible and accommodating and I so appreciate all of the love and care that they give to our dogs.

Wow, if you’re looking for a kind, patient, and quality sitter Lydia is your person! She sent text updates including pictures and videos daily. She was so great about keeping everyone in the loop. She was patient with my young and sometimes temperamental pup. She is a hidden gem and I’m so grateful to have found her.

Lydia is the sweetest and most patient dog sitter! She was super flexible with my schedule including last minute rescheduling! Rocky has come back super tired and he is rarely tired! Thank you again Lydia !

Lydia and her family are so great! They kept both of our dogs this past week and I felt so comfortable leaving them in their care. They could not be sweeter. Lydia was super communicative and sent pictures and videos daily along with daily updates. And she didn’t hesitate to ask and questions that came up. We will definitely be hiring them again the next time that we take a vacation!

Information Lydia & Jacob D. would like to know about your pet

With two young kinds at home I ask that your dog be gentle-natured. Big dogs are fine, I don't mind watching over clumsy or energetic animals, but I will have no tolerance for aggressive behaviour. I will not allow my daughter to interfere with your pet while eating or drinking and am mindful of a dogs personal space if they do not like their tail, face, or feet touched. I will always take care to provide an environment where any reasonably tempered dog will feel comfortable with my daughter and baby.

A typical day

My neighborhood is easily walkable and I can try to accomodate walks, but with a newborn it won't always be possible. The backyard is small but available for frequent potty breaks during the day. My husband likes to wrestle with active dogs and I like to cuddle. My pre-schooler will LOVE to play with your dog but I am mindful to teach her about boundaries with animals. We normally like to spend an hour watching TV at night and your dog is welcome to hop up on the sofa with us.
