Your pets, my passion.

Pet care experience

I have taken care of pets since I was 10. Family, friends, and friends-of-friends have relied on me to walk, feed, bathe, and house sit their pets. I currently live in a multi-pet household with multiple dogs and cats. I am now a senior at Michigan State University, pursuing a degree in animal science. I have taken companion animal science courses and worked hands-on with a wide range of animals. I have learned how to provide CPR and first-aid for pets as well. During school I have also worked for a doggy daycare, consisting of taking care of up to 80 dogs at a time in a cage-free environment! This consisted of assisting dogs of all ages and sizes in specific food schedules/requests, administering medications, and keeping a safe and fun environment for all. During my time here I learned how to read the body language of a wide-range of dogs. I will cater to just about any needs you request when it comes to caring for your pet in your home. If your pet needs walked, fed, or let outside at specific times, I will be there to provide it all. Just ask, and I’ll let you know whether I will be a good fit for caring for your pet(s). I'm currently in school at Michigan State University pursuing a degree in Animal Science, I commute to campus so when I don't have classes I am full-time in Greenville area. Classes may take up a couple hours on certain weekdays, but outside of that time your pets will be my priority. I am also enlisted in the Army National Guard, so I am unavailable one weekend a month. During that time I may be available for evening dog walks or an evening drop-in visit, otherwise I will not take any pets if I know that I can't provide the time and care they need. During the Meet and Greet I will take in any information needed to care for your pets and cater to any needs you wish. I want to provide a comfortable experience for your pets while also adhering to their routines and rules. I want to provide a fun and safe experience for your pets while you are away! This requires me to collect as much information as I can on your pets including triggers, routines, medications, small house rules and limitations, emergency information, treats/food information, and of course enjoyable activities that your pets love. During any service I will also provide updates and pictures as much as possible without interrupting your time away too much.

Amazing experience with Lydia!!! Super on top of communication. She texted me right away with any questions or concerns. Sent so many pictures of my cats while I was gone. And the cats took to her right away! Sitting on her lap and cuddling. This is the first time I had a cat sitter that wasn’t my family, and I think she did an even better job than my family did in the past! Definitely would use her again in the future!!

Safety, trust & environment

I do not provide care in my own home, although I’ll happily provide care in your home. The care received will be discussed during the meet and greet, if your pet requires any specialty care I will gladly work with it and provide them with an enjoyable environment. I like to make sure that I am sticking to their routines to provide as much comfort as possible while they are missing you.

Information Lydia H. would like to know about your pet

During the Meet and Greet I will want to go over the typical routine of each pet, this is including but not limited to wake-up/bedtime, meal times, amount of food at meal times, walks (where and when). I also will need to know if they are taking any medications and allergies, and any important information on the medications they take or the allergies they have. If your pet is special needs then I will collect any information on that and how you normally care for the special needs. Also if they have any limitations whether it be rules you have in place for them or things that limit them on a daily basis. Emergency information including microchip number and vet of choice, and lastly any other information you believe is important for me to know prior to watching your pets.

A typical day

I love to care for and build good relationships with new dogs. When it comes to dog walking I will take them to a safe and comfortable area for the both of us, and begin by building trust in each other. I’d love to be provided with a favorite toy or small treats to award good behavior and help build that trust together as well. When it comes to house sitting or drop-in visits I will provide your dog with mental and physical stimulation. I want them to have a good time! If you have any requests for activities they love, I will provide them for your pet. If at any time during my visits you wish for me to bathe/groom your pet, I may offer that for an additional fee depending on the temperament, breed, or details of the request.
