Pet care experience
I am a University of Connecticut pre-med student. I grew up with many dogs and raised my current dog, Tucker (an aussie), from a puppy. I have experience with difficult dogs, as my girlfriend's dog has mild fear aggression issues. Through taking care of him, I have learned a significant amount about dog behavior and training, and can identify subtle stress signals and warning signs in a dog's behavior. I only use positive reinforcement (treats, praise, etc.) and will never hit, yell at, or otherwise intimidate your dog. Because I am in school, I don't currently have my dog with me, so I miss being around dogs on a regular basis--I would love to spend some quality time with yours.

Lucas saved me by taking a last minute reservation and then did a fantastic job. One of my boys is blind and requires extra patience but Lucas did great with both my boys. He even understood that Dexter, the blind one was messy and kept everything clean. He faithfully checked in with me and sent me pictures of my boys. I always worry leaving my cats to visit family but with Lucas looking after them I was able to relax and focus on celebrating the holiday instead of worrying. I would definitely recommend him to any pet parent and will not hesitate to use him again. Thanks Lucas!
We all liked Lucas right away and felt very comfortable leaving Dexter Dog in his care.
Lucas did a great job. He stayed at our place for 17 days watching our dog and chinchilla. He's a very nice guy and seems to have plenty of experience with dogs. I would recommend him to anyone!!
Lucas went above and beyond and really stood out as an amazing sitter for my active, 2 year-old, Australian Sheph. mix.! He was very attentive to her high energy and worked hard to keep her schedule while we were away. He sent adorable photos of Kansas throughout the visit and kept me updated as any questions arose. If you want someone who will make your absence as stress-free as possible for you and your dog Lucas is the perfect guy! I can't say enough good things about his work with my dog. BIG BONUS... he left the house spotless and went out of his way to make my return after a late flight as stress free as possible. I would work with him again without a doubt!

I love all dogs, but I have a special affinity for Rotties, Dobermans, Huskies, and German Shepherds. Please let me know if your dog has any special dietary or behavioral needs. I am comfortable with dogs who need to be kept at a distance from other dogs or strangers, and dogs that need to be muzzled for any variety of reasons. Also, if your dog exhibits any unwanted behaviors, please let me know so I don't accidentally reinforce them (for example, my dog is welcome on the couch, but you may prefer your dog stay off the furniture).
A typical day
As I will come to your dog, I can take them around your neighborhood and to any nearby dog parks. I am more than willing to take your dog on a quick car ride to get to a park that isn't walkable. Fetch, tug of war, chase, find-the-hidden-treats, and, for dogs that like water (and owners who don't mind their dog getting wet), having fun with the hose are just a few of the games I can play with your dog.
