Currently, I have a 4 year-old German Shephard/Lab Mix, and I've been taking care of her since she was 2 months old. Given the benefits and the rewards of having a dog that loves you, I've become fully motivated to take care of her to my fullest ability. In terms of discipline, I use a firm demeanor of orders, and for my dog, I mainly kenneled trained her. However, I do not disagree with other types of discipline in other people's homes. I do not pull a dog by the neck, and I personally do not believe in shock collars, but like I said, I will not change the way you prefer to take care of your dog. In orders of teaching the dog, I use treats. For dog care, I usually get up in the morning with the dog and take for morning walk to get some of that morning energy out, possibly bring a toy if a backyard or closed in park presents itself. For full-day care, I continue with at least 3-4 potty breaks and outside dog play, if possible. It is very important to reaffirm affection and love to the dog all day. I am available usually most of all days, and from time to time, I do have a night job that ranges for about 6 hours, but I would still be available to take care of the dog before and after work. I currently live in an apartment with a pretty amazing dog park. I will preferably not involve your dog with mine. Only other person that might come into contact with your dog, may be my boyfriend, but I doubt it would happen.
