If you are reading this, you have likely come to the same conclusion that I drew years back, a pet nanny with insurance coming to your home, where your pets feel most comfortable, is much better for your furry loved one than a kennel. That said, allow me to introduce myself. Over the years, I've garnered a reputation for being a 'pet whisperer.' Warm, yet confident, I have a special way with our furry friends, and have worked magic with adoptees, too - dogs of ALL sizes, and even cats. I grew up with dogs and cats (and a horse for a while) and have owned and/or adopted furred family members of my own for over 20 years. People say that I have a knack for bypassing the typical 'new person' hurdles with Other People's Pets; be they very shy, laid-back, energetic, stubborn, protective, you name it, even OCD animals are quickly at ease with me. It's a sense they have about me, I think... they know I 'get it.' My professional and community good-reputation aside, I am well-established locally, am very 'empathic' with animals (and people), and uphold the highest client confidentiality ethics. I was also in real estate for several years: the privacy of your home, safety of your keys, etc. are guaranteed. As I now work for myself as a freelance editor, my schedule is flexible enough to accommodate your needs. I've "pet-nannied" for many in the area and will provide references attesting to my love for, knowledge about, and skills with animals -- from people near and far, some have bred and shown dogs including Eukanuba and Westminster winners and/or 'finished' them in any number of categories. As an editor, I've enjoyed a notable number of repeat and ongoing clientele; there's something to be said for good quality service, attention to detail, and diligence re: caring about the results I provide! I've lived near the bay for many years, so I know the area well, especially when it comes to dog-friendly venues. If there are particular skills you'd like me to work on in your absence, please note them for me. I am happy to help. Sometimes, a new face can make a big difference in training! My love for animals is far-reaching. Last week, I conversed with a dear friend in Minnesota who has bred and shown award-winning Great Danes. Just today, I wound up giving advice to a friend re: how to obtain a clean urine sample from a pug. That said, should your pet need scheduled medication, eye drops, etc., I am happy to administer as needed. Gilead, my Katrina adoptee, is my third golden retriever; he is both hand signal & voice-trained). Gilly IS family, and a bright, sociable, well-mannered, and possesses an uncanny sense of humor... for a snuggle-bug! There was a time years back when I had two dogs and one cat of my own, along with two fostered cats; so, if you happen to have a menagerie of your own, that is no problem! As for pet sitting or walking, I adhere to client's personal pet 'code' with a respectful hand and warm heart. In my house, the dog has a place on the sofa; in your home, dogs may have different 'house rules.' Thus, I will ask for a brief 'in-house style sheet' for any client's pets. They are family after all :-) Information I like to have in order to ensure that your pets are as happy and well-adjusted as they can be during your absence will include information re: walks, feeding times, quirks, favorite toys/rewards, and any practice schedule. Things such as this are not only important to your pet's happiness, but also to my own sense of caring for your pets to the best of my ability. During a "meet and greet," I also ask for your standard phrases (some use 'treat'; other say 'cookie'), your pet's emergency contact info./vet number, any info. on special needs, and what your pets daily schedule usually entails, so they can enjoy and thrive with a sense of consistency -- just as if you were there with them! Your day/night rate per dog includes all visits and care for that day (in other words, it is a discounted rate from the $15 per visit x 4-5 visits per day including travel time or the hours spent at your home with your fur-kids). I'm not adverse to it if your pet nannying might include minor ancillary tasks: bring in the mail, water the plants, call or email with a well-being report, and so on. I do keep a short-note journal when I pet-sit and/or house-sit, so clients may see what has been enjoyed, encountered, accomplished in their absence :-) I am also an avid photographer. Digital photos of your pet and emails/journal entries will be provided daily. For those of you who prefer a daily log on paper as well, please let me know. Day rates per dog will include all walks/visits and the overnight surcharge; it's kind of like a bulk discount. Lastly, I am also happy to discuss any longer-term care/walking/house-sitting needs you may have. I am usually available on short-notice and will always reply to emails and voice mails readily.
