In 2017 my yorkie-chihuahua mix, Scruffy, fell ill with a rare form of cancer that caused a tumor in his adrenal gland. At the time, he was nearing 14-years-of-age and was in constant need of a watchful eye and desirable attention. My mother and I became extremely busy with work at the time. My family was then hard-pressed to find someone who could be in Greensboro as to give Scruffy the “quality-of-life” benefactors he deserved. After a year of Keeley’s illness rapidly progressing I asked Lorin to begin watching her and making her feel safe – she wholeheartedly accepted the offer and never asked my family for a single cent. Lorin went out of her way to care for Scruffy for months. She administered oral medications required for the cancer treatment and throat issues. She was able to handle her in very intricate and delicate ways that allowed for every party involved to be a part of a hassle-free and peace-of-mind atmosphere. She was there for him until his untimely passing in August, 2018 – and I couldn’t be more thankful.
