Not a Sitter, But a Friend

Pet care experience

Hi there, I know what it is like to leave your beloved dog behind for the weekend or multiple weeks; they are lonely and sitting by the door, awaiting your arrival. And you can't help but worry about them, even when you know the neighbor is checking on them every day. Well, I am here to take their mind off of your absence and make sure they have are given affection through the day or night. I have fostered shelties for many years and now volunteer at the Fulton County Animal Shelter. I have encountered shy dogs, peppy dogs, large dogs, and small dogs, and I will care for your dog like it was my own. I am happy to walk your dog or even take them on a run, whatever their energy levels demand. I am currently free during the week and weekends to allow for more flexibility within your schedule.

I have used Lori as my dogsitter many times in the past few years. My husband and I frequently go on two-three day trips and instead of dealing with the hassle of a kennel, we ask Lori to come over and keep Abby company. Even during the cold months, Lori would still come over and take Abby outside or walk her along her usual route. We have never had to worry about our dog's safety or peace of mind.

Safety, trust & environment

I reside with a cat, but he belongs to my boyfriend. We are slowly building our comfort levels around each other as I provide him with homemade toys, catgrass, and any other form of treat. With others' animals, I let the animal come to me. Depending on their trust, I will get down on my knees to be on their level. I am happy to sit on the floor and wait for the animal to come to me at their own pace; if it is play time, then I am more than happy to wear them out with tug of war on the ground. All water dishes are checked each visit as well as their food bowls. Within two minutes of my entrance, we are headed outside for a bathroom break. And within the last five minutes of my visit, we head outside again.

Information Lori S. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has any injuries, allergies, special needs, trust issues, etc. Also, if there are numerous dogs in the household, please let me know if they walk together or separately. Because of the summer heat and poor air quality, let me know if you have changed their walking schedule or time outside to keep them healthy.

A typical day

I may love playing with dog toys more than some dogs themselves. I will happily fetch the toys if they do not care to do so. And my main form of exercise is walking every day, so we will be hitting the pavement (but only if that is what you request)!

I have completed many overnight dog sitting visits in the past years, primarily for younger dogs that could not receive a usual drop in visit. I am used to being woken up at odd hours for bathroom breaks and am familiar with dogs who are experiencing separation anxiety. I will progress at your dog's pace rather than trying to force them to be happy. They are subject of attention and should be kept comfortable at all times. Should your dog have special dietary needs, I have been there as well. Dry food, wet food, both with a bit of water drizzled in, etc.
