Experienced dog owner w/FENCED yard

Pet care experience

We are active and very experienced pet parents with a fenced backyard. We have been pet parents for 30+ years and have occasionally fostered "fresh from the track" greyhounds over the past 15+ years. I have been a pet parent to six rescue greyhounds, a shep-x from the dog pound, two standard poodles, a peka-friese and a blind pug rescued from a puppy mill. My current crew consists of a pug/Frenchie-x and a springer spaniel-x. Both are rescues. I walked a friend's blind golden retriever when they needed. We are watchful for health issues and will communicate daily to let you know that all is going well or if there are any concerns. Our granddog, a French bulldog, always has a great time here. I also tend to a friend’s greyhound pack (3 or 4 depending on fosters) on occasion when she has a long work day. We are protective and our first priority is to keep our dogs and yours secured, whether it be in our home or on a walk. We are volunteers and contributors to Greyhound Pets of America-MN and contributors to MN Pug Rescue, Best Friend Animal Sanctuary and Pug Nation of LA. About this sitter: Hi! My name is Lori and my husband and I are very active and experienced pet parents with a fenced backyard (six-foot chain link) and nearby walking trails. We have two rescues, a pug-Frenchie-x and a springer spaniel-x. My husband and I are retired and we are both home a lot to give lots of attention. When it's 20-degrees or above, we typically take our pups on one or two two-mile walks per day. Over the years, I have been a pet parent to six greyhounds, a shep-x, two standard poodles, a pekafriese and a blind pug and several fosters. Our current crew consists of an a nine-year-old male greyhound and a 13-year-old blind pug. All are rescues that we fostered and ended up adopting. We also babysit our French bulldog granddog from time to time and walked a friend's blind golden retriever on occasion. Being a multi-dog family for the past 30+ years, we have dealt with many canine health issues that have required great care and following explicit veterinary instructions. We love dogs and give great care! Safety and security are our #1 priorities. Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog lover all my life; I love all animals. We have been a multi-dog household for many years. We adopt rescues, some have been young and some have been old when they have come our way; we love them all, but have a special place in our hearts for the seniors. Having had many dogs make it into their teens, we have had to recognize, deal with and manage some difficult health situations including bloat/GVD, chronic pancreatitis, acute pancreatitis, osteosarcoma, lymphoma, ascending degenerative myopathy, allergic airway disease, large aortic blood clot, IBD/colitis, cirrhosis of the liver, torn toe webbing, blindness, brain tumor and seizures. Our current pack is healthy, but our blind pug has occasional bouts of pancreatitis, so we have to really watch her weight and have her on a low-fat diet. Pugs are hungry all the time and tend to be chubby, so we feed her lots of steamed vegetables with her meals. Meet my pets We have a a nine-yr-old greyhound, Shorty, and a 13-yr-old blind pug, Rosie. All have made visits to nursing homes :) About my yard Good sized backyard with six-foot high chain link fence with chained gates. There are boulders, trees, wood chips in the backyard and our greyhounds have created a "race track" ;). We do not use any chemicals in our backyard and do not walk dogs on chemically-treated grass. We supervise our dogs when they are outside. Small or frail dogs, like our blind pug, have the option to go potty on the snow pack on the deck in the winter or we can carry them to the backyard. Our blind pug can't go down steps, so she goes potty on the deck in the winter and we carry her to the yard in the summer. My experience administering medication Yes, eye drops, pills, liquid medications, soaks, salves...

Lori and her husband watched our dog for 3 days. Our dog loved her dogs and Lori’s huge fenced in yard. Lori texted me updates and many photos of our dog! We could not have been happier with Lori. We hope to use her again soon.

Lori and her husband are the greatest! Their love for dogs is incredible!!! Our Jack Russell, Jasper has so much fun running around Lori’s fabulous backyard and when she takes Jasper for walks and sometimes rides in the cart, he gets so excited! We feel so comfortable leaving Jasper with Lori when we go on our vacations. Highly recommend this great lady!!
