I am a PHD grad student and therapist currently working partially from home, partially in the field, which gives me a flexible schedule for hanging with your pooch. Note that I live in Studio City but my office is in Silver Lake, and I've switched my official address to that as it's easier for me to take sits around this area and be near my office. If you're in Studio City, Sherman Oaks, NoHo or the Hills, I can also do these areas, but prefer not to go west of Encino or above Valley Village. Currently I am unable to offer multi-night boarding in my LA home overnight - I can only do daycare and one or two night stays. But I am happy to offer dog sitting on a daily and/or nightly basis at the owners home, along with dog walking, hiking and trips to the park. I have been doing this for Rover (fka DogVacay) since it's inception. I can pick your dog up, take them on a long hike or to the dog park, on a walk, or just hang with them at your house, whether for the afternoon or overnight! A little more about me: I moved to LA from NYC in August of 2012, where I ran a dog rescue called Badass Brooklyn. In my last year there, I helped save over 400 dogs from high kill shelters in the South (where I am originally from) and thus have tons of dog experience! I have been working in dog shelters and rescuing dogs my entire life (it's a family thing) and I worked for several rescues in LA and spent time with pups at LA city and county shelters doing 'temp testing' before going back to school to become a therapist. I have personally had 9 dogs throughout my life and have additionally fostered over 50. I "specialize" in large dog breeds and have a soft spot for "issue" dogs and discriminated breeds but I do love all shapes and sizes. So, bring on the toy poodles too :) I can deliver medication, make vet visits, bathe, run and cuddle your dog - whatever you need. I am fine with dogs who have certain "ticks," as long as we talk them out beforehand and work through how to handle. No breeds are off-limits and size doesn't matter. I've been a lifelong dog lover, starting with my large family pack growing up and extending into my time as a shelter volunteer and then as the operational manager of a major NYC rescue, Badass Brooklyn. Since moving to LA ten years ago, I've been involved in rescue, dog sitting and walking. While I don't do 'dog work' professionally anymore, I still enjoy dog sitting. I WFH most days, but do need to be able to leave for 2-4 hours a day, so dogs who require constant care are not a good fit for me currently. I only offer one day boarding at my townhome, where I do not have a yard. We can go on walks in the neighborhood and they can chill on the patio or inside with me!
