Companion care, Queer

Pet care experience

Short version: I care for dogs to help my mental health and I love caring for companions because they are special to you. I am often anxious and depressed aiming to brighten your pets day and my own. When I care for dogs a high pitched baby voice comes out and many pet names like "baby" and "honey" are used. I often converse with dogs as my tone helps them know what to be doing. If I don't indulge this baby voice then doggos and myself have less fun on walks. I'm Queer, they/them pronouns, polyamorous, and I won't judge your living arrangement or messy garden. I'll work on any blackberry, ivy, or holly plants you want removed from your yard for some labor compensation. Detailed version: My Pet Care Rates: - My Rover rate prices are based on Rovers 20% cut that comes from my listed rate here. - My rates in general are based on years of experience pet sitting for Rover clients (aka strangers), family, friends, and word of mouth, as well as a passion for companion care. - My rates are based on my continued life-long existential exploration of companion care /care-giving and its complex intersections and targeting in the society around me. - My rates are based on what I've learned of boundaries and respecting my health needs. I recently discovered I am Autistic to a significant sensory degree and also am a damn good care giver. ***Service Area Preference based on my ability*** - My local walkable area: BeaconHill, Seattle 98144 - Consistent walks, drop-ins, and in home sitting offered to Beacon Hill (Roughly, PacMed to Jefferson Park and Rainier Ave to Airport way). - Semi-regular or sporadic walks, drop-ins, and in home sitting offered to all of Seattle. I'll need to know what free parking is available for any kind of service. - Other viable Service areas: Redmond and Everett. Ask me about it. End of stay includes: - a loaded dishwasher, a laundry washer loaded with used sheets and towels, cleared counters and cleared trash/recycling/compost containers used during the stay... P.S. these are complementary services, if you want to pay me to *actually CLEAN* I would LOVE to, let's chat. - a calm and happy puppers! My other service offerings: - Various creature care including reptile and others. Ask me about it. - Plant and garden care, I have training and experience. - Invasive plant garden removal, I have training and experience. - Home cleaning, cleansing, and organizing, I have training and experience. Pet characteristics and behaviors that involve negotiation: - Barking that cannot be soothed or distracted after becoming familiar with me, will effect my mental health, and my ability to care for your companion in a soothing gentle way. I will growl and use dog body language for a pup to understand they are effecting me in a way that keeps me from meeting them where they are at and what they can do differently, I have been very successful in the past on multiple occasions. - I am very successful with anxious barkers who are friendly and open to bonding with me for their comfort, I love soothing them while their humans are away. However if they continue to get anxious to the same intense degree again and again, that can be difficult for longer than a three day stay, up for negotiations. - Dominance behaviors by the dog that are persistent. When a dog continuously challenges me by trying to hump me or put their paws on me knowing not to, then my most successful response has been to stabilize my stance, get a stable hold on their scrub and back of neck, bare my teeth growling and use human words to associate my meanings in a rough "don't fuck with me" tone, then reinforcing with supportive and happy tones and facial expressions so they know what makes me happy and what pisses me off. - So basically persistent humping or barking that cannot be corrected or adjusted with some care, are behaviors that negatively effect my mental health and ability to give care. Otherwise! I'd love to make friends with your anxious pup and be one of their trusted people while you are away! Let's be open to negotiating details and if its a good fit for all! ABOUT ME: - QUEER... as in THEY/THEM pronouns, Genderqueer, Polyamorous, Pansexual, probably some other stuff too. - I enjoy making homes feel good and hope to extend my businesses in that direction someday. - I should probably have my own emotional support animal if I'm honest. - Those hard-points in your living room ceiling are neat. Mind if I hang a hammock from those while you're away? Your extra curricular are likely not that surprising to me. No shame or judgement. Appreciation, intrigue, and no yucking of yums. - Trauma informed approaches are essential and need to be normalized, its one of the nicest things we can do for ourselves and our loved ones who are all suffering in ways we know nothing about or how to support them. - I'm just accepting that I'm Autistic with lots of sensory over stimulation and numbing out. This is partially why I'm good with dogs since we seem to have similar sensory lol. - My Rover Profile was created in 2016(?), and has accompanied me through much learning of what services I can offer, including significant and scary depression. - A yellow lab was my best friend growing up! I miss Elmo so much! I am currently dedicated to finding work that aligns with my health needs. Pet care is one that works well. I also am out of town sometimes making products for a local company. I live in an apartment with no safe yard access. I can not offer boarding at my current home. But while staying in your own home I try and keep in mind all the safety things home owners would need to consider like gates, fences, and first opening the door upon getting home.

I am so glad to have found Iz. I have a very fearful dog who Iz was extremely patient and worked with us to gain her trust. Iz was very detail oriented with the visits making sure our dogs had their normal routine every day. I would highly recommend Iz!!

Iz was great. They stayed at my place and took care of my cat, Nala, who was healthy and happy when I returned. I received daily pics, and I felt that Iz was very communicative and respectful of my place.

Iz was great. Took great care of our senior Golden who has some special needs. They were very responsive, sent lots of photos, and were a courteous house guest. Would definitely work with them again!

Iz took great care of Duke during our week away. They provided clear, frequent communication with lots of pictures, and left the house tidy at the end of their stay. Iz clearly has experience with anxious dogs. They took care to understand Duke’s quirks and provide support, cuddles and a little extra training. We hope to have Iz look after Duke again in the future.

I am most comfortable in Seattle where I live and the familiarity helps me keep my balance when dealing with overwhelming situations or dogs who are overwhelmed so I can be a better grounding point for them as their sitter.

Information Iz H. would like to know about your pet

I'd like to know about your dogs personality and history. Any triggers that are in awareness? I want to know about quirkie habits or traits to help me understand their temperament and cooping. In my mind these could be many things. Maybe its a routine that must be followed every night, like on the floor cuddles before bed. Not just couch cuddles, but on the floor full on cuddles. Maybe a tendency to bolt out of doorways or lick their paws when anxious. Maybe a fear of loud noises or brooms. There could be potential hot spots on their body I should not touch or go near. Or maybe its avoiding dogs with pointy ears or people who have baseball caps while we're on a walk. Dogs and people are complex individuals and I want to know as much as I can about your pup so I can provide the best care I can.

A typical day

No dog parks or off leash areas. Plenty of yard time or walks. Lots of cuddles and attention. I aim for my charges to be calmer and more comfortable than when you left. My schedule and commitments are sporadic, but when I care for your pets they are my main priority in a day.
