Professional Pet Care Guru

Pet care experience

I started my pet sitting business when I was 7 years old. I colored posters and hung them up in the local grocery store. That was when I got my first client! I followed my passion for animals and made a career of it. I've had my own pet sitting/dog walking business in Austin for 6 years. I've fostered close to 100 animals and my dog is a registered therapy dog with Divine Canines. I have the experience but above all, passion. I love animals and always have. Being able to work with them is a dream come true. I truly treat your pets like my own. They get to cuddle in my bed with me, go on park trips, and are part of the family.

I started looking for a house sitter on Rover over 2 months ahead of our vacation since we would be gone during a holiday and they tend to get booked up quickly. We had previously used Rover for a house sitter and were very happy. However, one moved and the other was out of town. I picked to meet with Lizzie since she had great reviews and her profile said the dogs go out 0-2 hours while at your home. This was important because one of our dogs is still a puppy and needs to go out often. Lizzie came to the house to meet the dogs and go over things. She mentioned the need to add an extra afternoon walk which threw me a little but I went with it. I asked if she could set it up for us because Rover was giving me 2 different prices for each dog. One was $35 per night and the other was $42. She said it was just one charge not one for each dog and she would take care of it. A few weeks later I get the Rover order for $420, This was higher than I expected however I assumed that there would be a little extra holiday fee and also that "mid day walk she mentioned" so I went with it and paid the invoice to book Lizzie. I had the house cleaned the day before so it would be nice for her. I left her a note with details on food, bones etc since we had met weeks earlier and she may have forgot. We left for vacation. Then, she asked if we wanted to add the "mid day walk". I was shocked as I thought that was already handled and would be leaving for the airport in an hour! Yes, the puppy needs that walk so I paid another invoice of $96. With fees I have paid a total of $540. She sent a few pictures and everyone seemed happy. One of the first couple days she mentioned the puppy had diarrhea in her area and would give her some pumpkin. Vacation is over and we walk in the house. The dogs are happy to see us. I notice in the puppy area, dirty footprints on the floor, and what looks like diarrhea on the baseboard and door. I start cleaning it right away. I also had to throw out her dog bed as it was disgusting. My husband notices dried up urine spots in the kitchen and also starts cleaning right away. While cleaning we both notice the floors are extremely dirty and start to wonder why? They were so much more dirty than when we are all there and it was less than a week. We had no idea what happened. I turn on the Roomba to get a head start on the floors. After a few minutes its stopped and had something stuck in the bottom. It was her underwear. My husband also found what looked like a dog collar that did not belong to us, it turned out to be her belt. The bedding from our bed she used was all thrown in a pile on the floor in the laundry room. The counter behind our expresso machine was a mess with dried up expresso. The keychain I left for her was missing and only the key was left. She did not leave a note nor did we hear from her. I was furious! Never have we returned home and had to start cleaning immediately. I texted her to call me which she did. I asked her if anything happened while we were gone. She said no and asked why I was asking. I did let my temper get the best of me and totally went off on her. I asked her why she didn't clean up the diarrhea? Why the floors were so gross? If she had other dogs in our home? If she had a party? She said she didn't have a party nor other dogs in our home and that she was very busy and did not have time to clean the house before we came home. After paying $540 for 6 nights that excuse just was not good enough for me. This is an adult woman who should know better than to leave a clients house this way. I was hoping for a long term relationship with her since our other sitters are no longer available but there is simply no way I would use Lizzie to watch our dogs or recommend her to anyone else. She may be great at walking someones dog however she is not good at watching them in your own home.

We are so grateful to have found Lizzie, both for our own sense of security (we are pretty obsessive dog parents) and for the safety and joy of our fur babies. Lizzie responded very quickly to a last minute request and was thorough and attentive throughout the entire process and our playful puppies came home happy and tired.

Information Lizzie D. would like to know about your pet

any fears such as; loud noises, loud cars, rough playing with other dogs, sudden movements, ect any aggression issues such as; leash aggression, dog aggression, cat aggression, food aggression ect. any prey/herding drive towards children and small animals ANY health issues Tendencies to run out of open doors ect I do not have any breed restrictions or preferences. The information listed above is necessary. I do accept dogs with slight dog aggression, because I have experience with aggressive dogs and the ability to keep them separate from other dogs, if needed. but you know your dog better than anyone. If you believe it is not a good fit, then maybe a sitter with just one dog in the home is best.
