Your dog’s best friend! See below!
Pet care experience
I recently brought home a puppy that’s 4 months old. I’m only sitting for families at this time where I can do drop ins, or I can bring my puppy with (your dog needs to be pet friendly). A happy dog is a happy owner, and I like to ensure that every time. When staying in your home, I will leave it as clean (if not cleaner) than I found it, will send regular updates with photos and notes about what your dog and I have been up to, and will even allow you to video-chat with your dog if you'd like. I will make your dog a priority, and communication will always be reliable and consistent. I also do my best to prepare for any scenarios that may arise, and will make sure to ask all of the right questions to ensure that I know you and your dog well, and am the best sitter I can be for all of you. I know that leaving pets can be difficult, and want to make sure that you feel comfortable leaving your loved ones with me. I love all dogs, and have experience working with dogs that are timid/shy, and especially enjoy large breed dogs (I currently dog-sit 2 Great Danes and have watched as many as 4 at one time)! I have volunteered in dog rescues for many years, and have had dogs for my entire life. I have had a few foster dogs as well. I work full-time, and am not able to come home during the work day at this time. I work 7:30AM-4PM Monday-Friday (in St Paul, MN). I work remotely 2 days/week. I keep my calendar very up-to-date, and try to respond promptly to any requests.
Reviews
Lissa was wonderful while taking care of our dog while we were out on vacation. She sent plenty of updates and spent lots of quality time. Bonnie misses her already!
Lissa's a gem! She's great with our two senior dogs and their various health needs. It was wonderful receiving proactive updates - with pictures - while we were away and she was reactive to any questions we had for her. We returned from a long travel day to a tidy house and happy dogs. We'll definitely be working with Lissa again!
Lissa was wonderful to work with. She watched our dog for 10 days and kept in touch daily, which was super important to us. We also appreciated coming home to a clean house. We would use her again in the future!
Great with the dogs and their med/meal schedule. Very respectfully of our house. Plus responsive and commutative!

Information Lissa S. would like to know about your pet
I don't have any breed preferences, and love all dogs. However, I especially like senior dogs and large dogs. I like to know where dogs most like to be pet, and what they don't like so that I can make sure the dog is as comfortable as possible with me. I also like to know where they prefer to go on their walks and if there are any areas we need to avoid, any house rules around furniture or rooms they can play in, feeding and exercise schedules, triggers or anxieties, behavioral tendencies, medical needs, and any other pertinent info! I have experience giving medications as well including insulin.
A typical day
I usually housesit, so I like to ask the owners where their dog likes to go on walks, and stick to that. However, I like going to the lakes or nice trails for a walk. My favorite lake in the summer to go to with dogs is Bde Mka Ska. It's a nice walking distance, and gives dogs a lot of different things to explore. I like to talk with owners to see what their dog's favorite activities are, and try to incorporate those things into our time together as much as possible. Usually after work, we'd have dinner together, have some fun activity time, and then hopefully end the night with some snuggling/pets on the couch. Then your dog would be welcome to sleep with me (as long as you allow that). On the weekends, I like to spend even more time with my puppy clients, and I try not to be away for too long during my stays. When the weather is nice, I like walking around the lake with friends and a dog, and then bringing the dog with us to dog-friendly patios afterwards (especially if my friend's dog can come along too!). When I have dog sitting clients, I also really like going to the dog park with them (if they and their owners are comfortable). When I have a dog-sitting client, I prioritize them and try to do as many activities as I can that can include the dog!
