Loving, Trustworthy & Dependable.

Pet care experience

I got my first dog in 1980 and its been a love affair ever since. I have been a pet sitter since 1997 and started my dog rescue in 2002, having saved over 1300 homeless pets since then. I have fostered some of the most frightened, neglected and abused dogs and helped them go on to find wonderful forever homes. I have also cared and fostered many older dogs and have a soft spot for senior dogs. Over the years, I have successfully trained dogs in the field and also competed in dog agility and I use praise and food rewards for good behavior and will treat your pet as if they are my own. You could say my life has gone to the dogs!

I have known Lisa for about 8 years and she is amazing with animals! I met her through the rescue she founded, Illinois Birddog Rescue, when I adopted one of my dogs from IBR. She is selfless, loving, caring, and all about the dogs she works with. We often have group play dates with our dogs and others, and she has a wonderful bond and connection to them. I would highly recommend Lisa and would not hesitate to hire her myself!

I first talked to Lisa in November 2015 to inquire about a potential dog to adopt through Illinois BirdDod Rescue. Little did I know, from that day forward, Lisa and I would connect consistently about pups and their well being. I ended up fostering to adopting a dog named Hjalmarsson (named after #4 defense on Blackhawks!). Hjalmarsson was diagnosed with allergies, Lyme and RMSF. Lisa was on top of it though! She helped us with great information, meds and consistently checks in with us to see how the dog is doing. We even meet her and her pups at the Wauconda dog park on Sundays! I can text or call Lisa at any time with questions regarding our dogs health and know that she will have an answer and can send me some information on it. I have never met someone so dedicated to helping animals - especially those infected with Lyme and other tick borne illnesses. She has a lot of passion and drive to help our furry four legged friends and fights battles for them and speaks for them. I would trust Lisa with anyone of my four legged friends.

I wish I lived closer! I would definitely use Lisa as a per sitter! I don't know ANYONE that has animals' best interest more at heart! Her knowledge of animals' well being is inspiring!

I have been working with Lisa for about 5 years now. She is Awesome! Unlike some rescues I have been involved in she the most conscientious, caring, and organized I have ever met. She always does what she says she is going to do. Her love of animals drives her everyday, she lives for them.

Information Lisa S. would like to know about your pet

I want to know their age, sex, breed, what some of their training and socialization skills may be. I would want to know if they are caged or loose in the home and if they get any treats after a walk. I would want to know their health and vaccination history.

A typical day

I love the changing seasons in the Midwest and enjoy taking dogs for their walks around their neighborhood and depending on what their owners prefer, we can work on some training of just enjoy the day. Backyard play could include a good game of fetch and lots of belly rubs. For vacation clients I try to make them feel safe at home as best I can.
