My Fur Babies Are My Family!
Pet care experience
Ever since I was little, when I found strays, I had to keep them safe while I located their owners. It was just in me. Luckily, my parents supported this natural need inside me to do this. When I was nine years old, we got our first dog; a Shelty. What an addition to our family! I loved her so much! At 15, we had to put her down, and the next year all I wanted for Christmas was a puppy. My boyfriend, with my parents' permission, got me Angel. Until I left for college, my life was blessed with these dogs. After college, one day a cat followed me home, and I ended up adopting him. I never wanted a cat! I was a dog person. But, he changed me. At that time, I worked around 50 hours a week teaching high school and tutoring. So, for Christmas I asked for a rescue kitty to keep Tandy company. So, I got my little Zuzu! Since then, across the years, I have rescued five cats: Clarence, Bailey, Bedford, Tilly and most recently, Eustace. With the exception of Tandy, I named them all after my favorite film "It's A Wonderful Life." My life would be empty without them! Recently, I've been in Facebook groups supporting and helping owners find their fur babies. I've helped hand out flyers a couple times, but both times the end did not turn out well, so I've had to take a break from that, because it was hard on me. I am a behaviorist with a psychology degree and teaching certificate from Brigham Young University. My skills are instrumental into shaping our fur babies' behavior. For example, when I first found Bailey on the streets, he was beaten up from a cat fight. At times, he'd become ornery and mean to his brothers and sister. Eventually, across the years, he became my biggest cuddlebug! It was gut wrenchingly heartbreaking when I lost him last year! Most people don't understand that these wee ones are like our children, and they deserve to be treated as such. My schedule is very flexible. If services are needed long term, I think the dogs would benefit from using the same dog watcher. Building a stable relationship creates trust and less anxiety for them. I will provide services at your home. I will walk your doggie, feed him, take him out for potty breaks and cuddle with him while we watch his favorite shows. :-)
Reviews
All of my pets love Lisa. Lisa has helped me with keeping my backyard chickens safe by helping me find adequate shelter when the shelter I had for them failed. I have three cats that always greet Lisa when she comes over. My German Shepard, Belle, loves Lisa and she's not a big fan of people outside of our family. Lisa takes very good care of her own animals. I think she would make a great caregiver for anyone's pets.

I have a walking trail nearby right next to my veterinarian! It's on Johnson and Midway NW Cedar Rapids. I'll check out other trails or parks availability near my client. However, I think starting out with what the dog is used to would be best before exploring other areas. :-)
