Animals make life complete!

Pet care experience

TRAVEL UPDATE: Oct 2023- I have been travelling most of 2023, including 2 volunteer experiences in Australia, caring for orphaned/injured wildlife such as Wombats, Kangaroos, Pademelons and Possums and even penguins. I'm now returning home after a 4 month journey across Canada to Newfoundland, and back through the Yukon and Haida Gwaii. I'm now ready to stay home for the forseeable future and I'd love to meet your furry family member! I have always had pets in my life, right up to 2017 when I had to put my beloved black lab to rest and my 3 kids took their respective cats with them when they moved out. Due to my passion for travelling, I felt it wasn't the right time to bring in another animal, but discovered this amazing opportunity to spend time with other people's fur babies close to home, which fills my heart. I started pet sitting professionally in January 2019 and have barely been home, with many repeat clients. I have made so many new fur-ever friends with unique personalities and I love every one of them! One client even refers to me as the "cat whisperer", as I am the only cat sitter who has been able to not only catch a glimpse of one of her 4 cats, but befriend her and make her feel comfortable to come out of hiding. Pet sitting also allows me to experience places I would likely not see, even in my own town. I am a mature, responsible animal lover who looks forward to a wagging tail and sloppy kisses from dogs, as well as the "bread making" kneading of a cuddly, drooling kitty! I also love to travel and welcome the opportunity to include pet sitting in my adventures abroad. I am a non smoker, a tenant and a landlord. I understand the importance of a well maintained home and will respect your home as if it were my own - leaving it as clean (or cleaner!) than when I arrive. I welcome the opportunity to love and care for your cherished member of the family in their own comfortable surroundings of your home. Let's set up a Meet n Greet soon! in 2022 I completed several pet sits in various parts of Mexico, such as: Sayulita, Bucerias, La Cruz, Chapala, San Miguel de Allende and Lo de Marcos. I also did volunteer dog walking/care at animal shelters in both Sayulita and Holbox. 2023: I completed 4 weeks of volunteering with injured wildlife in Australia, caring for orphaned/injured Wombats, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Pademelons, Possums and rescued farm animals - horses, pigs, sheep, goats, cows, birds and Emus - very unique experiences and memories!

Lisa takes such good care of my frenchie! She is very responsive and keeps me updated on their walks. I definitely feel comfortable leaving my dog knowing that Lisa will take her out 😊

We were lucky enough to have Lisa take care of our senior dog while we were out of town. As you can imagine, when you have a senior dog it's harder to leave them behind. But with Lisa's constant communication we quickly felt relaxed. And that's priceless.

I have a giant 135 lb very protective Ridgeback so finding just anyone to take care of him while I am on vacation is not easy. He is not the kind of dog that can be put in a doggy day care. We met Lisa months before I went away for a dog walk and my dog loved her instantly. Then we did a trial run for 4 days having Lisa stay in the house for 4 days so he could get used to her. It worked, I went away for a much needed 12 days and she was amazing. Walks and updates everyday, my house was clean, bed made when I got home and I can’t tell you what a relief to have her take such good care of my boy and house while I was gone. She is such a special lady and I’m so grateful I found her! I’m already planning my next trip in 2024 around her schedule!! Thanks Lisa!

Safety, trust & environment

I prefer to stay in your home. I believe it's very important for animals to stay in their familiar environment and not add more stress to their situation. In addition, I love to travel and explore other places - win, win!

Information Lisa J. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know what the breed is and age, (spayed/neutered), if vaccinations are complete and if he/she is an outdoor dog. Is your dog friendly with other dogs and will he/she adapt well to being looked after by a stranger. Is your dog allowed to travel to trails etc in my vehicle? Is your dog reasonably well behaved and understands basic commands? (especially recall). If your dog is in training, please let me know your commands and rewards, so we are consistent during your absence. Is your dog leash aggressive - require special collars etc. Is her/she allowed off leash? Is there a special diet/medications? I am comfortable to administer medications, but I ask that you please explain in detail. Is your pet able to be left alone for a few hours (on a pet sit), if I need to go out to run errands etc.

A typical day

I live in North Vancouver, which offers endless hiking/walking, swimming and ball catching opportunities both on and off leash. Lynn Canyon is one of my favourites, but there is also the dog beach at Ambleside as well as Kings Mill dog park at Harbourside Mall, plus Seymour Demonstration Forest, InterRivers, Mosquito Creek, Capilano Dam, McCartney Creek, Bridgman Park - tons on the North Shore! I would love the opportunity to explore new nature walks in YOUR area too! Leaving your loved one can be stressful - I get that! I will give you peace of mind by sending you a photo as soon as I arrive, followed by regular photos of your pet with a brief message to let you know that they are safe and happy. I welcome pets to sleep with me too! For overnight stays in your home, you can rest assured that your pet(s) will be well looked after and home maintained - returning to your home as clean as you left it ( or possibly better!)
