Man's best friend? It's mutual! 🐾

Pet care experience

Hi there! One thing I've learned from owning pets for most of my life is that, for as much as they enrich our lives, they rely on us to do the same for them. I'd be happy to bring some enrichment to your pets' days whenever they need it! I'm lucky enough to live near the D&R canal, Colonial Park, and several awesome hiking trails, and I love to explore those places with my own dog, Calla. I also really enjoy training Calla for fun. She's learned many neat tricks at this point ("curtsy" is probably my favorite), and I'd feel perfectly comfortable keeping up any training routines you're working on with your own dog. We've had Calla since she was 4 months old, and though it was hard at times, I did love the challenge of looking after a puppy and helping her grow into a happy (and well-behaved) member of our household! I also have two cats, sisters Bear and Twig, who were also kittens when they joined us. Before Calla, I had a great companion in my childhood dog Snickers. In college, before I had the space for a dog of my own, I scratched that itch by volunteering as a dog walker at St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center. I have a certain fondness for bigger dogs, since I spend a lot of time with a few friends' 100+ lb. dogs, but any size and breed is awesome in my eyes!

This was my first experience with using Rover and a pet sitter. Lisa took excellent care of my cat Cali. She was consistent with the scheduled checkin visits and providing updates, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. I would schedule with Lisa again and highly recommend her.

Lisa is a great pet caregiver to our dog and cat. A true pleasure to work with and was very quick to make time to meet for an dog walk and get to know our dog. Then accepted a multi drop in visit while the family was away. Lisa gave great care to our pets and our dog loves the walks! I look forward to working with her again!

Safety, trust & environment

It's really important to me that your pet feels safe and loved during a visit or walk, and that I leave your home exactly as I found it. Having happily worked with Rover sitters/walkers for my own pets, I know how much this service has helped ease my mind during the workday or a trip out of town, and I intend to do the same for my clients! I trust that families know their pets best, and I'm comfortable with caring for them just as you would normally, whether than means working on some training, crating, feeding schedules, or just favorite walking routes!

Information Lisa D. would like to know about your pet

Of course, safety is paramount, so any and all information about allergies, medications, or general health is always welcome. I'd love to know about any behavioral issues or training regimes you're currently working on and how I can maintain the reinforcement/policies/house rules you would normally use. Please also let me know of anything that will help me take care of your home, too: towels for drying off in rain, cleaning or pet supplies, etc.

A typical day

Depending on your preference, I'd be happy to walk your dog around your neighborhood or a nearby park or trail. I'll be sure to give your pup plenty of time to sniff and stretch their legs. Playing outside in the backyard is a good alternative too! My own dog is not a big fetcher, so I love finding other ways to tire her out and have fun: scent games, chasing the "flirt pole", and a good-ole' game of tag are some favorites! If we're staying at home, we could do some clicker training or play with toys to keep the mind and body active.

I work in outdoor/environmental education, which slows down in fall and winter. These days I'm available most weekdays in the morning or evening, and can often fit in a few walks or visits during the weekend as well.
