Pet care experience
I have had a dog every since I was a kid and am a dog lover. I currently have one dog of my own, Winston. Winston is a 5 year old Blue Heeler who loves playing with other dogs. I am a grad student and have a very flexible schedule. I am typically home during the day and work and have class in the evenings. We have a large yard that is fenced in the back. We live very close to the Kalamazoo Valley River Trail and go for walks/runs throughout the day. We do not have any children so I would be open to caring for a puppy at our home. Winston does great with puppies and often guides them. We also travel to dog parks on a regular basis.

Lindsey did a wonderful job caring for my dog while I was on vacation for a month. I was a little nervous about leaving her for that length of time, but after meeting Lindsey and her husband Mike, I felt that my dog, Leah, would be well cared for. Lindsey sent me frequent updates and pictures of my dog. She also made an extra effort to calm my nervous pooch over July 4th. There were lots of fireworks so they took their dog, Winston, and Leah on a car ride to get away from the noise. Overall, my dog seemed very comfortable and was treated like she was part of the family. It was also a bonus that she made a new doggie friend and bonded with Winston.

I was a bit nervous at first to have someone take care of my dog, Stanley. I am definitely the type of person that believes a dog is just as much a part of the family as anyone else. Lindsey is more that understanding of that. She instantly put me at ease as soon as I saw her loving on Stanley. Lindsey has been a great fit for Stanley!

I am open to all breeds. If a dog is not potty trained, a clear description of how you are training them will help me be consistent with your approach. I have owned dogs who have been abused in the past so knowing if there are items that your dog may be fearful of will be beneficial.
A typical day
Since I live so close to the Kalamazoo Valley Trail, I takes walks on the trails. I am open to other trails/neighborhoods that your dog may be used to. We have a large yard with a ton of dog toys (I pretend they are lawn ornaments). Winston loves to play and typically plays catch and hide and go seek several times a day. I am also willing to run with your dog. Winston recently hurt his paw and is unable to run at this time.
